Good on you for #Resisting™ during COVID! I catered to the paranoia too, to an extent, and am still somewhat queasy about it. Didn't have to forge a vax card, but I was ready to self-justify bending my ethics to do so, if I had to.

Ah, but "reciprocity", sad to say that is a myth. A thing we tell ourselves to still believe in "fairness", at the level of the graspable and political. There is no "equal extent". I'm trying to think of one example from history where that happened, but I can't, but that may very well be that this is my first post and I've only had about 10cc of coffee as yet. Surely there's something? Where things were "fair and balanced"? Nope.

I meant it, when I said it gets worse. It's not symmetric, or linear. Exponential. Worst(n) = Worse(n-1)^1.1.

And the directionality oscillates. Evil swings right, worse evil swings left as a reaction, even worse evil goes right again as a reaction to that. It goes on and on and on, has been for millennia I suppose, as humanity's mad plunge into chaos proceeds apace. Maybe it's the way our brains are wired. A little joke on those who believe they can perceive.

It's The Pit and the Pendulum. The blade doesn't care if it's swinging left or right, it simply cuts, and cuts, and cuts, deeper with every swing. Why do you think they made us read that in high school, do you suppose?

When we are dodging the truncheon five years from now I'll wish I had taken that vacation I'm considering now. Federal Judge Karin J. Immergut, at 3:40pm PT, issued a Temporary Restraining Order against the Trump administration calling the Oregon National Guard to the Portland ICE protests. In the 31 page opinion and order granting TRO, she contradicted herself several times. She says the protests have been “mostly peaceful” and then goes on to describe the violent acts of the protesters. These judges have to be impeached. SCOTUS already lifted an injunction on the California National Guard, because the president has the power to call the National Guard to protect federal facilities and officers.
