Never get Captured
#1
I can not speak for everyone but I swore I would never be captured. All the rounds in whatever weapon I had I would use yet the last round was for me.

That was a hard tale.... I was unprepared for it.

Nevertheless, I can see your point clearly.

Just a friendly request... give me more of a "head's up" on what I might be in for when you post videos like that, OK?

Brutal video.   I can take it.    I didn't want to, but I will if it is necessary for the people who lived it to talk about it.   I am here.   I didn't live it.   I am willing to talk about it, if it helps.   I have suffered personal trauma in my life, but never like that.   God bless you and keep you sane.

Thanks for the kind thoughts but I (as far as I know) do not suffer from my patriotic war happenings as some seem to do. I am lucky and there is no doubt in my mind I have had a good lucky life but all that stuff was long ago when I was bold almost invisible and kinda stupid ..First Cav Rude, Crude, and highly unsophisticated yet we got the job done....  I do think about some really good people who gave their lives for a purpose we were told was worth dying for....

Vietnam is a pretty good place to visit now depending on where you go. Laos under their current communist leadership is one step above "third world" while Cambodia has some serious mining going on and seems to be in bed with China in many ways ... Pol Pot and now Xi's China ... Idiots... Money and bribes are still a big deal the world over and China IS the big dog in Asia; even though they manage to piss just about everyone off with their shoddy shady deals or the hidden threat of violence..

Who would have thought S.E. Asia would turn out like it has.    In the military I was never filled with hate or took things personal.....There were people and things who were trying to kill me but they and "Somethings" got killed right back..Rats the size of cats who seemed to want to sleep with you so they could eat your face (one bite 21 Rabi shots in the belly) and the occasional huge black scorpion (5 to 8 inches long) whose sticker would leave a mark like you were shot with a .22 and that is not counting the venom it would fire hose into the site of the sting; the Black Scorpions were very heavy in their thick black exoskeletons.... I do wish I had put one of the big ones in a jar just to show that, " Yep they really do get that big!"

Who knows maybe after death it is 72 virgins attending you ?? Wonder how the girls feel about that ?.....or pick a half dozen other feel good after death stories.

The ones I feel sorry for came back from (any) war missing limbs or other important pieces of their bodies especially those that were disfigured by fire and flame. For that to happen in your early 20s and spend the rest of your life disfigured by war could mess with peoples minds IMO. Luckily time does heal most mental wounds.

It would be nice if we would not have Wars yet I am not foolish enough after looking at human history to believe under the current versions of city states that no future war will ever happen.. Some would say that belief is rather pessimistic while others might consider it well Informed.. It would seem looking at Iraq, Syria, Libya, and half a dozen other great causes where people died and are dying today my pessimism is justified when it comes to war and human cruelty....?

If there's one thing that at least six thousand years of recorded human governance teaches, it's that there's never a shortage of despots.
There are low level wars (where people get killed) going on in almost every major city on the planet...think about it !!

Anyway thanks again.... the only sleepless nights I have are because my golf game did not go the way I wanted it to !!

A buddy of mine and I went to the butterfly park south of KL one day (they had a lot more than butterflies at this place).  We'd heard it was a must-see place from some locals.  We got there before it opened and it wasn't clear where the front door was.  There was a line of people standing off on the side of the building, so we figured they were waiting to get in too.  We went to go join them.  Once we got close we could see these guys weren't the types to go to a park, they were dressed like plantation workers (palm oil).  So then we figured they must be employees waiting to get let in to go to work...because each of them had some kind of bag or box.  Nope!  When we got to where these people were we asked one of the guys what he was doing there.  He had one of those small igloo coolers with him, looked like a lunch box.

My Bahasa Malaysia wasn't very good then, and he spoke zero English, but eventually he figured out what we were asking him.  He pointed to his cooler, and we nodded.  He set the cooler down and carefully pulled open the lid.  The whole cooler was packed, and I mean PACKED, with those big black Scorpions, just exactly like the ones you describe!  Every one of them was 5"-6" long...and they were all still very much ALIVE!  There must have been (100+/-) of those Scorpions inside that cooler!!  I don't freak out at bugs, but I jumped about 2 feet when I saw all those Scorpions!  These people were lined up to sell this place these different bugs.  The park euthanized the bugs and mounted them inside picture frames to sell in their gift shop.  Turned out they send them all over the World.  He wanted to know if we wanted to buy some of his scorpions.  Thanks, but no thanks!

The Scorpion guy pointed at another guy who had a bamboo box with a garbage sack inside of it.  He kept pointing at this guy, like... "go look inside HIS box!"  So, we walked over to this other guy and asked him to show us what he had in the box.  This dude was a lot more careful showing us the contents of his box.  After he set the box down, he used two sticks to open the bag.  We kind of sheepishly peered inside the bag.  It was full of live giant centipedes, all of them 8" to 10" long!  The instant he opened the bag one of these centipedes darted out of the bag and up the guy's stick.  The guy launched up the air like a Titan missile and was furiously shaking the stick.  The centipede got flung off the stick, miraculously right back inside the bag.  The guy quickly sealed up the bag.

I don't know where either of those two guys worked in order to be able to collect that many seriously dangerous bugs like that, but wherever it was...I don't want to go there!!!

I'll never forget sitting down on a log (in a different rain forest region) and seeing one of those gigantic centipedes crawling along towards me...  I flinched so hard I flew off the ground and landed about a 1/2 mile away!  Those are truly scary... and their bite is devastatingly painful...  it burns your soul.

I can't imagine actually "hunting" for those things.  Crazy.

Thanks for the reply. I have killed 3 monster centipedes in the last 15 years here. People who have been bitten swear there are no insect bites worse..
