Never get Captured

I do wish I had put one of the big ones in a jar just to show that, " Yep they really do get that big!"

A buddy of mine and I went to the butterfly park south of KL one day (they had a lot more than butterflies at this place).  We'd heard it was a must-see place from some locals.  We got there before it opened and it wasn't clear where the front door was.  There was a line of people standing off on the side of the building, so we figured they were waiting to get in too.  We went to go join them.  Once we got close we could see these guys weren't the types to go to a park, they were dressed like plantation workers (palm oil).  So then we figured they must be employees waiting to get let in to go to work...because each of them had some kind of bag or box.  Nope!  When we got to where these people were we asked one of the guys what he was doing there.  He had one of those small igloo coolers with him, looked like a lunch box.

My Bahasa Malaysia wasn't very good then, and he spoke zero English, but eventually he figured out what we were asking him.  He pointed to his cooler, and we nodded.  He set the cooler down and carefully pulled open the lid.  The whole cooler was packed, and I mean PACKED, with those big black Scorpions, just exactly like the ones you describe!  Every one of them was 5"-6" long...and they were all still very much ALIVE!  There must have been (100+/-) of those Scorpions inside that cooler!!  I don't freak out at bugs, but I jumped about 2 feet when I saw all those Scorpions!  These people were lined up to sell this place these different bugs.  The park euthanized the bugs and mounted them inside picture frames to sell in their gift shop.  Turned out they send them all over the World.  He wanted to know if we wanted to buy some of his scorpions.  Thanks, but no thanks!

The Scorpion guy pointed at another guy who had a bamboo box with a garbage sack inside of it.  He kept pointing at this guy, like... "go look inside HIS box!"  So, we walked over to this other guy and asked him to show us what he had in the box.  This dude was a lot more careful showing us the contents of his box.  After he set the box down, he used two sticks to open the bag.  We kind of sheepishly peered inside the bag.  It was full of live giant centipedes, all of them 8" to 10" long!  The instant he opened the bag one of these centipedes darted out of the bag and up the guy's stick.  The guy launched up the air like a Titan missile and was furiously shaking the stick.  The centipede got flung off the stick, miraculously right back inside the bag.  The guy quickly sealed up the bag.

I don't know where either of those two guys worked in order to be able to collect that many seriously dangerous bugs like that, but wherever it was...I don't want to go there!!!
