I had a NDE at 7 years old - a near drowning in a non-supervised swimming pool. I was told I was blue and bloated when they pulled me out of the water and they started CPR. I did not have a spiritual experience or any experience during the event (maybe the void that FlyersFan mentioned). I remember being under the water vividly like it happened yesterday. I panicked thrashing about and inhaled water trying to breathe. After a short while the panic disappeared and I was calm staring into the water. I think the calm was caused by CO2 narcosis (hypercapnia). It was so peaceful and I had stopped attempting to breathe as well. Then there was nothing.
