NBA’s Chauncey Billups & Terry Rozier Arrested in Separate Gambling Probes - LIVE Breaking News Coverage #Billups #NBA #Rozier

Yeah, Im so glad I just play nickel and dime fantasy sports. Any play or parley that used Rozier should be null and void, possibly Billups too, but it sounds like he was just doing the fixed poker games.

Quote:Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier was arrested early Thursday morning as part of an FBI sports betting gambling probe, sources tell ESPN. The Eastern District of New York and FBI director Kash Patel will hold a press conference at 10 am ET to announce arrests from investigation.

I couldn’t help but to laugh when I saw this earlier today.

NFL players can beat their wives then drag them out by their hair - few game suspension.

But gambling on a game will get people in sports kicked out, awards stripped, or even the FBI knocking at their door… for a game.

Meanwhile, politicians openly inside trade, and likely vote on policy to protect their positions. Something that has an impact on our retirement plans. Last I checked, I don’t have any NBA bets in my 401k.

lol, at least the justice system is entertaining.

Not to get all deep and esoteric...

Let's not act like Kash, Dan, and Trump sat down and said let's go after the NBA... The evidence or potential evidence likely fell into their laps, and they acted.

Not to mention

Sports is a huge conglomerate of a multitude of connected and independent businesses, generating tons of local revenue

IF any sport itself loses credibility with the general fan, there could be a real economic impact

Now it appears the NBA is rigged... just as many have suspected

My criticism on this one isn’t isolated to this FBI/admin.

This has been a common theme in sports for decades. Gambling gets massive punishment, violence and domestic abuse gets a slap on the wrist.

Im sure there’s more corruption from Vegas (broader now that it’s legal, but the books) than players and coaches.

I just think it’s hilarious the priorities in sports is all. It’s a game at the end of the day. If it is rigged, it’s a game.

I think this is a method a lot of them use to pay their entourages. Better that than paying them out of pocket. Free insider tips to pay their salaries for just being there.

Lol... There is a thread for it.

I looked up "Portland News" to see if the nationalized boots were on the ground and was greeted with news about The Portland Blazers head coach instead.

Appararently he had been taking part in rigged Mafia-run poker games in The Hamptons with 34 total defendants.

https://www.kgw.com/article/news/crime/p...a462f355f9
Quote: According to the indictment, the defendants are accused of using card-reading technology to steal tens of millions of dollars from victims in New York at rigged underground poker games.

To attract players to the games, well-known former professional athletes participated — Billups was one of them, along with Jones.

It seems like NBA players were used as bait to legitimize the games, and probably got a cut of the take.

Poor celebrity gawking whales.  At least they werent taken by a pump and dump cryptocurrency?

LeBron James was reportedly the player Damon Jones used inside info about before a Feb. 2023 Bucks–Lakers game, per @TheAthletic
(Line opened at Bucks -5.5 and closed at -8, they won by 9)

Jones allegedly told others to bet on Milwaukee after learning LeBron would sit out with ankle soreness — before it was on the injury report.

Of course, gambling is more of a risk to any sport's overall integrity and a huge source of the entertainment revenue, aka the bottom line.

As high-profile as they are sports sports-related domestic abuse cases the number they mirror other high-stress careers.

As distasteful as the slaps on the wrist are from the sports leagues, it's up to the judicial system, and most of these cases are settled with financial remuneration and lesser charges.

Because our judicial system is so overcrowded, AG have to take into account the chances of convictions where these cases get settled. Like DeShaun Watson, without witnesses, no legal case.

What are the leagues supposed to do? How can they punish someone not found guilty who negotiated lesser charges?

It's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Many wanted a lifetime ban for Michael Vick, but once they have served thier time, what can law enforcement or the leagues do.

Politicians have even more connections, and slush funds... it just the way it is
On the other side, troublemaker Trevor Bauer was effectively "me too" blackballed from the league for a crime he did not commit.

Your slippery slopes are there as well...if a league officially bans someone

If I heard correctly, there were 2 independent investigations, Chauncey and Damon were in the high-stakes poker "Face Cards" that attracted the "fish" to play with NBA Coaches, etc., and supplied inside info for point spread and prop bets

Rozier was supplying inside info to bet on games or prop bets, not sure he was involved in the poker at all

One of those indicted supposedly was in debt to the guys with the crooked noses, and they ramped up the insider knowledge, knowing LeBron isn't gonna play an hour before everybody else, which is supposedly some of the malfeasance perpetrated.

IF there are 2/3 coaches and players, there are likely others.

But most of the others busted were supposedly, friends of ours...wink wink
