And now I seem to be having some vague recollection of seeing this birch bark peeling off naturally in this way, and even peeling off a strip or two myself for whatever reason.
I drive to northern Michigan to find fallen birch trees. I have to cut the bark out first. Take it home and soak it in salt water for a day. Peel it and cut hundreds of strips.
It takes a long time. Glue each piece! Thank you for checking out my art!
