Karen Carpenter was pretty popular when I was a kid. This song imprinted on me and the intro actually haunted me for a long time because I'd have it in my head but didn't know where it came from. Once the internet came around it didn't take long for me to find out that it was Superstar by the Carpenters. That intro when I'd have it stuck in my head had a really intense melancholy feel to it and really seem to go very deep in some way:
