More than 50 countries have reached out to the President to begin tariff negotiations
(04-12-2025, 10:35 AM)xuenchen Wrote: Lol Lol  Trump exempts phones, computers, chips from ‘reciprocal’ tariffs

Yep exactly and if anybody reads the Grok links in various posts says that is exactly what happens in these situations each industry sector gets negotiated or it can be found by asking any AI source what happened in past China-US tariff wars. I have a little experience with what can happen to some clothing and apparel companies other companies too, but I know for a fact it happens in ours. Suppliers ship under the minimum shipments to be tariffed. At one time it was $800 US dollars suppliers would break shipments down for example at $3200 normally shipped together now gets shipped split 4 ways. It's a big hairy pain in the ass but it is used to work around till a firmer policy is accepted

The videos I posted from China mirror what we are hearing with most suppliers and American companies canceling or delaying orders. But we have in-stock inventory so our retail stores can still get dresses etc. In China, the factories are going half-staff or shuttering altogether. None of the companies we represent can sell in China, LOL are custom original designed dresses are knocked off and sold under China domestic label with ZERO compensation. AKA trade imbalance and FWIW in our sector the Chinese know it, they did shut down thousands of knock-off sites that were selling to the US consumer.

There are still more that can ship directly to the US end consumer without tariffs but it's nowhere are as many as before.

We are hopeful we get movement for a firmer lower or no tariff soon.

Yes, it hurting the US but it's crushing China already, patience play it cool..real cool, or everybody can lose thier proverbial shit.

Karoline Leavitt Says Administration Already Finalizing First Of Likely Many Tariff Deals
Quote:
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Fox News Friday that the tide has turned in favor of President Donald Trump’s economic and trade strategy, citing a flurry of international interest in new bilateral deals.

“Hannity” host Sean Hannity referred to the more than 75 countries that “all want to come to the table to deal.”

“I’m told that deal number one is close to being finished. Is that right?” Hannity asked Leavitt.

“It is true. We believe that there could be several deals very soon. More than 75 countries have reached out to the administration. More than 15 offers are on the table. And the president’s trade team and the president himself are working very hard to negotiate tailor-made trade deals with every country that has reached out,” Leavitt said. “No other president has had the courage to fully use the leverage of the United States of America.”

Hassett: Trump Administration Is Negotiating with 130 Countries on Tariffs

(notice how CNN host attempts to deflect with red herrings and meaningless drivel Lol
Quote:National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the Trump administration was negotiating trade policy with 130 countries.

Host Jake Tapper said, “What do you say to small business owners or even big business owners who say they’re having difficulty making long-term business decisions because the country seems right now to be run by capricious whim?”

Hassett said, “Oh, I don’t think at all that it’s run by a capricious whim. The way that I would think about it is that in the previous administration, you could sort of say, if you’re thinking about it in the football analogy, is that they were running out the clock and that what’s going on now in the Trump administration is across a wide array of policy areas. We’re in a two-minute offense, and the two-minute offense is pushing, as you’ve seen, the reconciliation bill through so that we get tax relief for American people, deregulation and trade policy.”

He added, “Now, on the trade policy, the whole point of the trade policy is to address the national emergency that we’re too dependent on foreign products in the U.S., especially if we were at a time of conflict and we’re doing something about that. The reciprocal act was basically, guys, if you come to the table and negotiate us with us and treat us the same way we treat you, then we’ll you’ll get your rate really low. And so right now 130 countries, 130 countries have responded, and we’re negotiating with them. And they’ve got their rate down to 10%. So, really, it’s almost a two-world system. There’s a process about China that’s very, very nascent, if at all, and then the process for everybody else. So the process for everybody else is orderly. It’s clear, people are coming to town with great, great offers.”

So one of our manufacturers just hit us 32% increase, effective immediately. We already have 3 cancelations on stock orders totaling 27 grand.

All did indicate they will replace thier stock orders when and if tariffs go down which is fine if tariffs get modified downward before mid-July

Manufacturing is leaving the U.S., like:

Tupperware
Harley-Davidson
Carrier Air Conditioniers
Intel Inside (chip production heads overseas)
3M
General Motors
Levi Strauss & Co.
Nike
Apple
Boeing (outsourcing)
Whirlpool (transferring some of its appliance manufacturing)
Caterpillar (moving some of its production to countries like China and Brazil)
Stanley Black & Decker (moving some of its production ...)

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companie...7#image=14

Companies no longer primarily in the U.S.:

Burger King
Ben & Jerrys
General Electric
Motorola
IBMs PC Business
Firestone
Seagate Tech.
Smithfield Foods
AMC Theaters
Budweiser
Trader Joe's
Holiday Inn ... the list is unending and last but not least - John Deere.

"To stay competitive in a rapidly changing global market, John Deere recently announced a plan to relocate some of its production to Mexico by 2026. The company argues that this move is necessary to optimize operations. High-value manufacturing, like producing advanced components and technologies, will remain in the U.S., while simpler tasks, such as assembling cabs for vehicles, will shift to Mexico."

Thats kind of the point America has hemoraged it's domestic manufacturing capabilities in all sectors, textile clothing and apparel began leaving in the 70s, other industries followed on better relations with China. Now America has to recoup some of that capability, it took decades and it isn't going to fix it self over night.

I would completely argue we have had gains in manufacturing quantity but there's also more sub standard quality than ever before.  Again even the large established firms have been bitten by poor quality when huge lots of substandard merchandise floods the markets.

All America has to do initially is select which industries are needed for national security, like the strategic reserve for computerchips. Then cherry pick the others

As for John Deere it has had its share of problems for a while some China related some not.

Most of those companies have been gone for years though. Some will come back some won't, a 10%-15% increase of companies relocating to the US is all the bump we need.

Rumors are UK and EU are getting closer to tariff deals, China will blow in the wind and we will see where they are in 10-14 days

I can say is my industry has had a lot of companies go in deep in China that did not survive COVID. COVID alone highlight why America must have some of it's manufacturing capabilities back.

Good news is Trump already has 5000 5 Million Dollar gold card businessperson ready to relocate and set up businesses in the US.

Quote:President Donald Trump said that he plans to offer a “gold card” visa with a path to citizenship for $5 million, replacing a 35-year-old visa for investors.
“They’ll be wealthy and they’ll be successful, and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people, and we think it’s going to be extremely successful,” Trump said Tuesday in the Oval Office.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the Trump Gold Card would replace EB-5 visas in two weeks. EB-5s were created by Congress in 1990 to generate foreign investment and are available to people who spend about $1 million on a company that employs at least 10 people.
Lutnick said the gold card — actually a green card, or permanent legal residency — would raise the price of admission for investors and do away with fraud and “nonsense” that he said characterize the EB-5 program. Like other green cards, it would include a path to citizenship.

They can say anything they want, it doesn't mean it is true. Where's the independent oversight?

Haven't we already learned the media can say whatever it wants to and does daily... the program has just started USAID operated with zero oversight for years
