If this trade war is not resolved by Trump as a negotiating tactic (is it?), we can then expect a global trade war. Rolling back tariffs won't be easy as the damage will have already been done. Consumer confidence has already been hit and some businesses put projects on hold because of uncertainty, so this is not helping business at all.
As I've always said Putnam6, the capitalist economic and tax systems that are in place do not work for the majority of humanity.
BTW thanks to you too for the conversation and different point of view.
Yeah thats where Im skeptical, I don't see this going beyond 4-6 weeks. Again life experiences I could be wrong .... I famously said there is no way in hell they lock down the country longer than 6-8 weeks for COVID-19. So I don't profess to know for certain, there are a million things that could happen to upset the apple cart here.
You mention how Trump's a shady character, okay I'll play along Trump can now renegotiate trade deals no telling how much he can skim for himself and whomever he is negotiating with.
Because you know politicians the vast majority likely make shady deals, in almost every country LOL except who was the guy in Peru who lives in his same house

Looks like China and Canada aren't backing down. Cananda PM has announced their own retalitory tarrifs and China has vowed to fight this to the end. So now Trump is talking a combined tariff of 108% total on China. Hasn't mentioned Canada yet but i'm sure he will, Canada announced 25% tariffs on American goods imported. This is just getting dumb. What happens when contries don't back down?
In other news, the left now believes that the tariffs were contrived to "Bismark" the dollar so he can declare martial law (on 4/20, maybe they are worried about legal weed lol) and send US troops into Blue states to begin the "purge" of democrats. I am not kidding.

Is that the same thing as Republican politicians not holding town hall meetings any more because the whole audience are leftist protesters? Even if they are, why can't they hold their own when questioned?
But yeah, this trade war is dumb and Trump really is making it up as he goes along.

I don't know if Trump is shady, per se, but rather more so dumb, or let me be generous, or misinformed, when it comes to economics, and wasn't that his major in uni? I wonder who wrote his exams for him and did they get over 70%.

Well I respect your opinion, LOL what are the chances of any of that occuring? We heard this with virtually every President. With ATS unavailable I don't have my "this is likely hyperbolic fear-mongering" gif but it sounds appropriate or they are just slinging loads of fearful shit on the faces of thier supporters and taking note of what motivates them?
It would be hilarious if Trump legalized weed on 4/20, but would blow some people's minds
I have to ask did legal weed affect your business or is the population so huge it doesn't matter?
Again I'm thinking 4-6 weeks tops with China, probably a lot less with the EU. Canada I have no clue but 6-8 weeks just because they seem especially offended.
side note...
Hearing a competitor is now charging 39% tariffs on all special orders shipped from China, which for some companies is a huge part of thier business.

I will read and post as I please, thanks.
Using your logic, why are you replying to me?
--Mod edit - Encia22 - Snipped off topic comment-- Your post doesn't really bother me...other than it sounds like you are upset that more people don't agree with you. You have every right to your opinions about whatever you want to opine on...no sweat off my back. I think you really underestimate the opinion of the majority here in the US...and its only growing the more past corruption comes to light.
I don't think our economy is going to tank but it will take a hit for a while because change tends to cause that when it comes to markets...everything is speculation and speculators are like chicken little when it comes to changing something they have been good at...the sky is always falling. I guess it won't take too long to find out what will happen though...give it a few years.

Thats the system that is already in place...how do you think these politicians become multimillionaires? At least Trump already had that kind of money before he took office...not like he needed to become president to get rich...he already was. Same for Elon...literally the richest man in the world that we know publicly about...he doesn't need to play corrupt games to make money he has plenty.

How is Trump dumb or misinformed?
Trump's plan is going to work one way or another.
The USA has a trade deficit with every country in the world because of tariffs imposed on us by other countries, they will either spend a lot of money trying to sell their products here or negotiate the tariffs down to 10% or less both ways.
Trump is not going to have it any other way, either you trade with us fairly or pay the price to sell your shit here.
Here is a video that lays it out pretty good....

Yeah well it could be Bye Bye China.
I would have thought they would be smarter than to raise tariffs on us when they have already been ripping us off for decades.
it appears that Trump is not going to blink and I dont think he should.
