Michigan Swampbuck Has Arrived
#11
Thanks for the welcomes. It is nice to be able to reply and not just lurk.

I guess my greatest motivation to join was the lack of respect I was getting at other boards. Plus, if I were to comment on other peoples' posts who were labeled liberal or leftist and added to anything they said, I was "one of them!". The political polarization is intense on the boards and the "you're either with us or against us" attitude is very apparent.

I'd like to debate and do deep research to find reasonable answers to questions or to support the facts of the matter. I'm not here for an echo chamber where people question your character if you aren't making the same noises they are. Its like you're only a good guy if you agree with them and the enemy if you don't. I'm here to get information and I treat the boards as an organic news feed network, not to argue politics and be called names.

I'm finally here and giving it a whirl. I've been lurking all along like some kind of creepy perv peaking through the windows, late at night, and . . . we'll leave the rest to your imaginations.

I've been around on other boards with moderation that needs work (to be polite), where a thoughtful comment can get you labeled and mischaracterized, not to mention the shallow depth of echo chambers that offer no useful information. Be that as it may, I hope this reputation of mine on these unknown boards doesn't cause problems here, however, I can assure everyone it was their attitudes that spawned my own. Plus I long for the discipline of the old days on the now deceased ATS. To be honest, I've been a bad boy and I'd enjoy some discipline and the stinging burn of a good session in the old woodshed.

Michigan is a beautiful state. I worked for GM Powertrain WorldWide Purchasing so I have been all over the state including Canada going over the Mackinac Bridge.  Lions football is back but your Governor?

I have had fantasies about a governess, you know, like a British nanny. Maybe it was the old TV sitcom, "Nanny and the Professor" that influenced that thought. However, that fantasy has become more of a nightmare now. I'm not into sado stuff, but I must say that if I had any new fantasies it would be more of a dominatrix Nazi-themed one then a happy Mary Poppins one. Maybe I should watch "The Sound of Music" again, they escape the Nazis in that one.

ETA: I hope I made my comments clear concerning our governess without breaking some of the the T&Cs I briefly glanced through during the sign-up procedure.

Yea, aka Mary Poppins my wife has morphed into Mother Teresa. Wasnt like that when we were dating.  Poppins was a bow wow. Now govy is pretty but coo coo. Claims she was raped when at Michigan State! Nah, IMO she was complicit as a pole jumper for football coach

Welcome!

I hope you're still brewing :) I'm looking at a few gallons of strawberry and raspberry wine this year, been a while since I've made beer but I've been debating making a "how to" thread to post here.

Good to see ya!

I threw together one 5 gal. batch with what I had. The hops did poorly last year because I was out of town a lot and I malted the barley I had for three years, it had slowed down germinating quite a bit.

So it wasn't quite an IPA, but it is tasty and didn't go bad. I will plant the rest of that barley and purchase some food grade barley this brew season. I'm going to give the hops some TLC and hope to load up the hops into the next batches for some good IPAs this time around,
