Michigan Ice Storm

Northern Michigan has a severe ice storm going with whole counties in the dark and travel closed to emergency vehicles only. 

6 Months ago FEMA wanted to station 300 semis worth of emergency supplies and the people said no.

Nearly 300,000 without power and 800 Consumers Power trucks working.

Yikes... I hope people can endure this without pain...

Just out of curiosity, what exactly was it they wanted to store there?  Was it stuff useful for this kind of event?

I didn't even realize there was an ice storm up north, since we had severe weather and tornado's down here.  It was a crazy bad day, with loss of life.  My heart goes out to all Michiganders going through this.
The only good thing, is that we tend to take care of our neighbors, so I would bet people with fireplaces have some neighbors camping in their living rooms with them.  Or those with Generators.

And today brings potential flooding.  I bet we've had 2 inches so far of rain, and it is supposed to get worse this afternoon.  And the temp is hovering at 33-34 F right now.
Thunder and lightning galore.
