Union bosses and state labor laws that hand them monopoly-bargaining power to codetermine with school officials how educators are compensated and managed are a big part of the problem. In the words of Mr. McCormick, until recently a history teacher in Waukegan, an industrial suburb of Chicago, the education establishment’s failure to identify, punish and dismiss sex abusers is “part of an overall larger culture of adults protecting a system that gives them a paycheck.”

People rightly care about the implications of the Epstein and Diddy cases.
And yet. If you study state by state, school districts and teachers unions often do not act in good faith. Often turning a blind eye to abuse. Where bad apple teachers are moved from district to district to hide their abuse. And should be an abomination to excellent teachers.
In reality, there are bigger problems than Epstein and Diddy. Where the abuse in the US school system might be as far reaching as the sexual abuse cases that rocked the Catholic Church.
Somebody asked if I cared about the victims in the Epstein case. I can only see people using victims as political footballs to try to take down a person when they turn a blind eye on what might be going on in their own school districts. Where justice for victims might hit them as taxpayers in those districts.
Sometimes people can’t handle the truth.
The abuse doesn’t even have to be sexual. There is a recent infamous case where a special needs child was forced to eat their own vomit.

How do others privy to a situation like this fail to report. There was also accusations by local radio reporters that the school district was stonewalling, but the online reports claim the school district was ignorant of the situation.
What is clear are hive minds tainted by the authority of an institution. And willing to turn a blind eye out of connivance and / or wanting to protect institutions politically. And makes you wonder what pressure is placed on good teachers to be silent. Toe what line for who.
