Was lucky enough to see him play with Primal Scream at Leeds Festival decades ago - he missed the first few songs of the set as he was allegedly in police custody/nabbed by security for weed but came on for the second half of the gig to huge cheers and ramped the gig up several notches. I was an indie music kid in the 1990s and early 2000s. Love the John Leckie production on that first Stone Roses LP but I don't think they had the material to justify further albums but very sad to hear about Mani's passing.
