Jim Collins has a 5 stage take that is quite fitting
1. Hubris Born of Success:
Overconfidence and a belief in invincibility stemming from past achievement
2. Undisciplined Pursuit of More:
Loss of focus and a tendency to chase opportunities without proper evaluation, leading to a decline in standard
3. Denial of Risk and Peril:
Ignoring negative feedback, minimizing problems, and failing to adapt to changing circumstances
4. Grasping for Salvation:
Frantic attempts to fix problems through quick fixes and drastic measures, often with limited success
5. Capitulation to Irrelevance or Death:
The organization either becomes irrelevant or ultimately fail
You can kinda look at the current state of the US and fit it nicely into these stages.
Stage 1, the end of WW2. The US is a power house, manufacturing, leaps in technological development etc etc. The US rides this wave for years.
Stage 2, Vietnam war and the civil rights movements. The US continues to be a powerhouse, exerting influence across a world that is catching up, and in many cases, resenting the overt control the US has. At home, protests against authority, government, war become ever more impactful
To the later years of stage 2 we have the GFC and housing markets collapse due to sub prime leanding.
Stage 3 The rise of Wokeness. The oppressed minorities rise. Riots, protests, anger directed to those who the 'woke' see as the reason for societies struggles. People has lost jobs, lost houses. The gap between the 'rich' and the 'rest' widens. People seek to blame the government for their woes.
In the midst of this, Governments seek to placate the loud voices, policies and laws instigated, DEI, EV, Taxes....Against sound judgement the Government react not for the betterness of the world, but to keep them selves in power by pleasing the masses, no matter the real cost to the country. The Biden Obama and Biden administrations are the catalyst for this. Trump comes to power the first time, but on promises made but not kept, not alot changes. Theres grandstanding, rallies, interviews and wild media announcements, but on the balance of it all, does anything really change? America abandons it allies, and the US is forever viewed as an unreliable ally.
Stage 4 (where we are now) the go woke, go broke rise. Trump is elected again and the world rejoices....or does it?
Wild, crazy policies are enacted. Obama and Biden era laws and polices are wounds back, some for the better, most for the worst. Ecnomic turmoil, foreign policies are relations become rocky. The US looks within to fix its problems, without realising it still needs the global stage. IT rallies local manufacturing and production, tarrifs everything not american, without seeming to realise 90% of its supply chain is dependent on foreign supply, it's the consumer who suffers with a surge in prices, not the supplier. The gap between the rich and poor widens yet again. The US slides from being a super power, the prestige of America wanes in the global eye. Not that America can see it yet. Trump continues to act as if he is the 'King' yet the world looks, laughs, and waits. The US is past the precipice of power, and has begun its slow decline.
Stage 5, the New World Order....The people of America realise they are no longer relevant, no longer the standard to long for. Jobs are gone, housing too expensive to the younger generations, cost of living outstrips wages. People stop having kids as it's too expensive. The Government scrambles but has ultimately failed the people......Wide spread riots set in, crime and violence, the US has lost itself.
And the NWO crawls from the ashes, to the seat of power of a broken country.
A hero is someone who simply got to frightened to use common sense and run away, then somehow lived through it all
