Major Corruption Scandal
#1
Major corruption uncovered in highest echelons of UKR government this week. Shocker!
And Mr Going to End the Wars just sent them more money.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cy8vw62j3g9o
Quote:Ukraine's energy and justice ministers have resigned in the wake of a major investigation into corruption in the country's energy sector.
President Volodymyr Zelensky called for Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk and Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko's removal on Wednesday.
On Monday anti-corruption bodies accused several people of orchestrating a embezzlement scheme in the energy sector worth about $100m (£76m), including at the national nuclear operator Enerhoatom.
Some of those implicated in the scandal are - or have been - close associates of Zelensky's.
The allegation is that Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and other key ministers and officials received payments from contractors building fortifications against Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
Among those alleged to be involved are former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov and Timur Mindich - a businessman and a co-owner of Zelensky's former TV studio Kvartal95. He has since reportedly fled the country.

I know starting a thread on UKR corruption is like starting a thread on water being wet, but this is where my tax money is still going against my will.
So there is that.

Peace.

Oh, is it time for their civil war? Right on schedule.

Edit: Haha I am just kidding about being on schedule; I thought it would have started earlier than this.

Interesting it is reported immediately after the end of the US government shot-down.

And that none of it is actually "news"....

a little less interesting that we've danced this dance before...
many, many times...

It's unfortunate that citizens have no voice in this stupid game
other than to cheer or jeer... pay or die.

What bothers me.  How much manpower and time went into collecting evidence.  And those involved are still proclaiming innocence.  I believe in due process.  But it is aggravating how much evidence gets collected, but then cases like this seem to get ground down in the courts until it fizzles.

I know a case a guy was running a private water waste treatment company who got millions to process waste water he didn’t even have the technology to processes. He was just batch dumping at night into the river.  He got caught.  People rallied around him claiming the charges were false because the city wanted the waste facility’s land.  The city was never interested in the land, but people still believe the obviously guilty guy was innocent and the city conspired against.  Despite the number of fish kills in the river.

From the article posted....
Quote:The anti-corruption bodies also said the huge sums had been laundered in the scheme and published photographs of bags full of cash. The funds were then transferred outside Ukraine, including to Russia,

Prosecutors alleged that the scheme's proceeds were laundered through an office in Kyiv linked to the family of former Ukrainian lawmaker and current Russian senator Andriy Derkach.
Nabu has been releasing new snippets of its investigation and wiretaps every day and on Tuesday it promised more would come.

This isn't an excuse for any corruption still going on in Ukraine, but you do have to remember that Ukraine infrastructure after the fall of the USSR, was pretty much run by the Russian oligarchs, who were filling their pockets with no impedance.
The fact that Russian is still suffering this, is part of the reason that after 3 years, they're still fighting to take control of a tiny country in comparison, dregs of this seem to still be holding on in Ukraine, but after the Nabu and Sap investigations they do seem to rooting out the problems.

Yeah when I saw they had connected it to Derkach is when I was pretty sure we were in a new phase.

We do have to remember though, that Russia were happy to push the corruption narrative to the world, as a way to help with their little operation, even though they'd been behind a large chunk of it from day one.

Yep, this is what I'm talking about. The mask has slipped; there's no going back.

The reason Ukraine is a graft-filled nation is inconsequential to the American taxpayer; it was irresponsible AF to send so much funding. PERIOD

Not saying zero, just not the amounts that were sent, all to keep Ukraine sovereign and still graft-filled, even if they are trying not to be and at war approaching how many years now (4) in February,
