Yes. It is a rectangle filled with various colour dots.
Just kidding. The same technique makes, for example, spotting the seven differences between these two images quite easy: ![]()

So there's two ways to see these, by converging the eyes, or diverging the eyes. I can do both, but converging's easier. This one is built for diverging, "looking beyond" the image. It's important to zoom in or move closer until it fills enough of your field-of-view.

Most perplexing. In a book I'm working through it is suggested that these images can help you see auras and it's good to practice with. I see auras but these images never change for me.

Yeah usually when eyes converge they also adjust focus, the two sets of muscles are linked and it requires practice to train the neurons to separate them I guess? Crossing eyes and mentally focusing on one of the two images until eye focus follows and snaps it in to clarity might help to start? But these things are notoriously difficult to describe how to do, "lol just try this man..." haha -- "just try focusing on invisible things that are close to you or really far away and then keep your eyes still while you move your view of the world to have the picture in it!"

Try this... hold a pen up vertically about 6 inches away from the stereogram on the screen so that the point is parallel with the center of the image. Then focus really hard on the point of the pen. Hold that focus for about five to ten seconds and then try to focus on the stereogram. For me the 3D shark appears instantly. ![]()

It's a schooner.
Update: I actually saw the shark! I've never been able to see these before.

I always was presumptuous about this because early on it occurred to me that the
value of this is the exercise the mind in "visualizing" in a flexible way. But now it seems the mechanics of the physiological aspects of it may have benefits to more than that, I had understood. Sorry, I lack links... I thought I had read that in some journal or other. |
