Lefties proven (again) to tend smarter than right-wingers
#41
After reading the thread, I'd like to thank the Left for proving my point that they have a constant need to prove themselves superior.

The same people who brag about their intelligence are the same who, instead of just tightening a fitting, will pay a plumber $200 an hour to fix the leak under the kitchen sink or call a tow truck when they have a flat, instead of just changing the tire because they have no idea how.

Why ? Because despite their "intelligence" they're basically helpless. You may be able to do quadratic equations in your head, but you're still stuck on the side of the road.

Funny how they depend on the "dumber" people to make their world go round.

So very dumb.
Example of left wing 'stupid'.
More proof that this "study" is garbage.

Just an observation.

My take on the matter.

Intelligence is about abstract thought, reasoning, and theory.

Common sense is more about practical wisdom and experience.

Ideally, it's probably best to develop both...
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

How is high-IQ a matter of 'social' ideology...

  1. I read your post as a rather long-winded admission that your only reason for disbelieving the study is that you don't like the result.
  2. Nobody said anything about the capacity for reason being 'programmed into DNA'.
  3. You're putting the cart before the horse. IQ is not a function of 'social' (I think you mean political) ideology; political ideology simply correlates predictably with IQ. The higher the IQ, the more likely the person to tend politically left.
Is this really such a big surprise? When you think of 'the left', whom do you usually think of? Most people think of university students and their professors.

When you think of the right, what kinds of people spring to mind? Any reputedly high-IQ types in there?

That is quite the assumption when it comes to "most people". In my experience, most people associate "the left" with America last, woke, gun grabbing, open borders, soft on crime, and all of those other looney ideologies that seem to creep from the left.

This has nothing to do with IQ, this has everything to do with the fact that the universities are usually the only place these professors are allowed to HEAVILY indoctrinate these kids with their ideologies and it can be seen as their curriculum. If a student's opinion differs from that of the professor they are usually graded unfairly and in certain cases even forced from their class.

I know plenty of people I went to school with that would be "the left" in todays times, and they are far from high IQ individuals. They go which ever way the "winds of change" happen to be blowing that day and are quite content in doing so. They have never had an original thought their entire life.

Does the study have anything to say about Winston Churchill's observation that if you are not a left wing socialist by the time you are 21 you don't have a heart, and if you're not a right wing conservative by the time you're 40 you haven't got a brain?

Not that I give a monkey's. Anyone relying on some study someone did somewhere to supposedly prove something relating to an unfathomnably complex subject such as the human being is on thin ice anyway.

There are actually nine types of intelligence, and everyone has a different blend.

So I think everyone is intelligent, just in different ways.  Wink2
