Yeah, his father was a doctor so did they not call authorities because of family/professional reputation or are they immigrants that don't trust the system there?

Im not aware as to thier reasoning. 

We are completely speculating without further info i suppose.

For all we know, the parents may have tried to get him help, or did call the police in the past.

But yeah, it could be all of those things...or none of the above.
