Hopeful news about a cancer treatment... perhaps...

A recent paper about a new therapy avenue for cancer...

Safe delivery of a highly toxic anthracycline derivative through liposomal nanoformulation achieves complete cancer regression

When I see words like "complete cancer regression" I get interested.

The problem is in what they are using... a highly toxic kind of cancer treatment drug derived from a bacterium... BUT ... so they solved the issue by encapsulating the substance in a liposome... an artificial structure which holds the drug in place..

The drug was then delivered directly to cancer tissues and ... the toxins did substantially less damage to the surrounding tissues and organs.... many cancers (even resistant types) responded well to the treatment ...

Promising.....

But a few days later another article appeared...

New Liposomal Cancer Drug Eradicates Tumors in Preclinical Models

Quote:In a remarkable advance for chemotherapy research, scientists from the Medical University of Vienna and their collaborators in Budapest have developed a next-generation cancer drug that wiped out aggressive tumors in mice, even those resistant to conventional therapies. The compound, called LiPyDau, is a liposomal form of a highly potent anthracycline derivative designed to overcome one of oncology’s toughest problems: drug resistance.

Not so much about "cancer remission"....

So I'm not sure how hopeful I should be....

I'll go through and read the articles you have posted.
Just based on what you have presented I feel like I have a somewhat appropriate image to share.
It was to happen anyways.

Sounds like another type of phage therapy.

I think we should all be very hopeful because they have not only developed a less toxic derivative of an existing very toxic cancer drug they are also targeting and manipulating the cancer cell's DNA to kill it.

"The preclinical studies demonstrated that a single dose of LiPyDau nearly halted tumor progression in melanoma models. Additionally, in lung cancer models utilizing both standard laboratory mice and mice hosting human tumor cells resistant to existing treatments, the drug showed a substantial reduction in tumor growth. In aggressive breast cancer models, LiPyDau was associated with near-total tumor regression.

Particularly notable was its capacity to permanently eradicate tumors in hereditary breast cancer models that are typically difficult to treat.
LiPyDau's efficacy extends to tumors that have developed resistance to multiple drugs. The drug operates through a distinct mechanism by irreversibly binding the two strands of DNA within cancer cells, resulting in irreversible genetic damage that triggers cell death. This approach is considered highly promising for overcoming the prevalent issue of resistance seen with standard chemotherapies."
