Jimmy Kimmel pulled from the air over false comment about Kirk murder

I still don't think he said anything wrong. I've watched the video over and over. This looks to me like another overreach from the Executive branch. Freedom of speech also applies to those you disagree with. For instance, I have to park my personal feelings a lot when running DI because it's important that everyone, no matter their beliefs, is treated fairly and equally.

Honestly, I'm more shocked that all those times he was in full blackface on The Man Show didn't get him "cancelled". That came up a few years back, and he managed to slip out of it. Personally. I've been a fan of his since he co-hosted Win Ben Steins Money, but I think he was a radio personality in Vegas before that.

Then take Kimmel’s statement.  Replace MAGA with LGBTQ, Kirk with Pulse Night Club, and Obama with Trump and see how free speech works.

I was wondering if I should buy some Disney stock while it’s down.  Wonder how much of this drama is made to swing the market for people in the know when to sell and buy?

Glad I don’t have the money to buy Disney stock.


Added.  I know many people that are down on subscription services and were downsizing their subscriptions before this happened.  I think the golden age of cutting the cable company cord has passed.  It will be interesting to see what the new trends will be.

ABC still allows The View. Did we really think they were going to not allow him to come back? It was a good way to keep the 'suspension' in the news and not what he said or other Congresspeople said since KIrks murder. 

Now the memorial is done and they can put there people back in place.

When the fallout of the assassination did exactly what I knew was going to do, I ceded logical functioning to my emotional reactive brain. 

While the preference is sarcasm, when the "Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion" I have advocated for since 16 gets further attacked by the stages of grief, you get "Lavender Me," which can be a humorless activist bitch. 

But it has to be drawn out by current events. Then the keyboard warrior function gets activated.  

It will mostly stay dormant until tapped by headlines once again.

That doesn't negate the overreach from the President, and that's not why it was pulled. Trump put the squeeze on the FCC, plain as day.

The innuendo was Trump wanted Kimmel fired so Disney could get its deal merger.  That eventually was misinformation.
 

Where the real starting block was affiliates pulling the show to protect themselves from liable.

Freedom of speech still applies. It's non-partisan. That's my entire point, chief.

Not when your employed by a company paying your bills and legally responsible for your statements while the obligation is to protect stockholders.  And the brand.  

Again.  Kimmel could have ran his mouth all he wanted on social media on his time and dime while suspended.  Yet he kept quiet and only seems bold when ABC is paying his bills.
