Jimmy Kimmel pulled from the air over false comment about Kirk murder

Remember that time when the Leftists were all upset over ABC firing Rosanne Barr for something she said?

Me neither.
An interesting opinion piece/article on what may happen if Jimmy Kimmel sues.

"If Kimmel sues, it wouldn’t just vindicate his own interests: It would be a way of defending a sorely tested bulwark of the free press, one that has come under increasing strain in recent days and months. It would, in other words, be another way for Kimmel to speak truth to misused power — just with fewer jokes."

Liberals are whining about getting fired.
Kimmel lost his job over something he said.

Imagine losing your life over something you said.

Well we all know it doesn't take much for some very angry, perhaps radicalized people without the ability to control themselves, to resort to gun violence to solve their problems. What I see is that mental illness/online and other types of radicalization and easy access to guns is not being discussed in the media.

As Annee said and Letterman is now saying...it is turning into managed media. Trump wants to silence his critics, apparently.

John Stewart will be doing a show to push the freedom of speech angle and give his take on this topic. I'm not sure what that will entail, but it's coming, and maybe his firing too (?)

Edit to Add; (Yeah, I have a clue now of what it will entail.)

"Stewart's featured guest will be Maria Ressa, the journalist and author of “How to Stand Up to a Dictator.” Ressa also shared the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize for her fight for freedom of expression in her home country of the Philippines."

Jon Stewart to host 'The Daily Show' in rare mid-week appearance a day after Kimmel suspension

And not one person addressed it.

Only excuses.

Except the constitution wasn’t violated.  Lying isn’t protected speech.  An employer holds the right to protect their brand.

Sorry.

Jimmy then said Trump is on "the 4th stage of grief: construction". It was a poke at the coldness of Trump, and not a remark on Kirk, imo.

Quote:Here is what Kimmel had said in reference to Kirk during Monday’s edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was, uh, grieving on Friday − the White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this.”
The show then cut to a clip of Trump being asked about how he was feeling following the death of Kirk. During the answer, Trump also touched on the construction of a new White House ballroom

Kimmel then lashed out at Trump.
“Yes, he’s at the fourth stage of grief: construction. Demolition, construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend; this is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?” Kimmel said.

Sorry.

The lying looks to be coming from both sides here, since the shooter's voting record indicated no political affiliation. He may turn out to be an apolitical nihilistic violent extremist, a new term for someone who commits terrorist acts without any clear affiliation to a political ideology.

Anyway, Kimmel and Colbert are talking about teaming up so they can get true free speech out there without it getting trampled on by those that cave into the pressures of money and power.

That song reminded me of another, older song.

So I started listening to the older song and thought "wait! They lived to tell the tale."

I'll leave that for yourself.

You'd like to keep your health.
But every time I read the papers, that old feeling comes on,

No guarantees there will be a Sarge.
