If he said it to a person or two it probably wouldn’t have gotten him axed.
The problem, I’m guessing, was he said it publicly in front of millions of people, at this point.
He probably hasn’t had this much attention for quite awhile according to his ratings.

I remember free speech and a guy recently getting murdered for it, so getting fired for being a callous liability is really not the worst outcome for him.

I’m still seeing joy from a giant group of antifree speech lefties over a guy getting killed because of his free speech rights.
