It might be over.

This is incredible if true, News from Iran on the streets is that the Regime has been sacked and the military have taken over and  in contact with the US government. Take it with a pinch of salt but the guy reporting looks like a bone fide, the Ayatollah seems to be missing as well on several mainstream reports so it might have some substance.   Possible Good News Update on Iran

This could have some interesting implications, and if true could go either way,  If it is a coup of military generals then the talks with the US might be simple ultimatums as it appears that sleeper cells inside of Iran are still causing serious problems, The Regime change wanted was in reality the Shas grandson in place. The new relationship with Russia might be a factor and embodying them.

Yes that would be incredible.

The Iranian people deserve to be free from those religious zealots.

But it will also make some terrorist supporters very sad.

Not sure I buy that story at this moment though, you would think this would be all over everywhere else and not just some random guy making a video about it.

The mainstream news seems to need the time to be vetted. This is the sort of thing that will not come out until the dust settles. And arranged to fit the narrative.

Eh, I don't think the foreign policy cares that it's a religious zealot that oppresses their population.

While we may be pressuring Iran, and doing everything we can to thwart them... We prop up Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Agreed but the Saudi and Qatari citizens enjoy semi-Western lifestyles and freedoms.

just don’t think Iran is that oppressed or backwards by what I can see, not that I have been there
Be a shame if this conflict becomes heated

Yeah...  that's far too sapphic for Tehren and clickbait for a video of a walking tour of street merchants on a sidewalk.

That's very misleading, and not indicative of their culture... AT ALL.
Quote:Punishments for lesbianism (musaheqeh)

• 100 lashes: For engaging in same-sex sexual intercourse.
• Death penalty: On the fourth conviction of same-sex sexual intercourse.
• 31 to 74 lashes: For other intimate acts between women (e.g., kissing, touching for sexual pleasure).

I'm sure holding hands qualifies.

That's 31 to 74 lashes for the public offense of that thumbnail image alone.

I tried to point those facts of Iran's horrendous abuse of gays and women out to one of your Liberal compadres from Canada the other day.

She deflected and tried to tell me that women are treated just as badly here in the USA as they are in Iran.

Would you agree with her assessment?

"Yes", but mostly "NO!"

Worse than in Iran? Not even close. The "freer" Muslim countries are like Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia (since 2018), and Egypt. But they are all still below the USA.

Like Tunisia will allow abortions, but have crazy muslim rape definitions.

As far as our overall liberation score woman in THESE countries get more rights than American women (not everyone listed).

The point I think she was making is that American women are far from the most liberated and unrestricted freedom-wise.
