There is also Russia and China available should Musk drive his rocket company into the ground one day, or a change of government does that for him.
Why do we want Elon to drive his "rocket" company into the ground? Just because he is finding billions in mistakes and possible fraud?
If we lost SpaceX right now, it would hurt
Its obvious his tech rivals, if not exceeds, NASA, Russia, and likely China.

You say billions others say millions, but nobody really knows.
It would not hurt if you lost SpaceX and with competition between Russia and China, I'm sure the U.S. could get a really good deal.

They launched 84% in 2024 it's demonstratively cheaper to use domestic SpaceX over China and Russia
China and Russia can barely keep thier launch schedules

I doubt you researched any of that post. Edit: I take that back. SpaceX is ahead of the game right now, but not for long. Competition is what is needed to bring prices down and bring innovative entrepreneurs up and coming. Guess who will have the last laugh.
The topic of this thread is national debt isn't it and what the government did with those saved millions or billions, whichever, where did the money go? How much is the debt again?

LOL I didn't have to research it, thought I had heard this elsewhere, and a Duck Duck Go search confirmed my assertion.

But they are here in this instance, aren't they?

Quote:Orbital space launches have rapidly increased. New records have been set for the last four years. In 2024, there was an orbital launch attempt every 34 hours. Spaceflights are also carrying more -- total upmass more than doubled from 2022 to 2024.
Much of that success is because of two companies: SpaceX and the China Aerospace Science Corporation (CASC), a state-owned enterprise. In 2021, CASC had the most orbital launches, 48, followed by SpaceX. After that, SpaceX took the lead and hasn't looked back. The two space companies have accounted for more than half of all orbital launches for the last four years (in 2024, SpaceX alone managed that). In 2024, CASC was responsible for 47 launches while SpaceX recorded 134.

Just because Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic can't keep up with SpaceX?
Besides, NASA and Europe will still be launching

How can any company keep up when Trump is playing favorites?
"The New Glenn rocket, developed by Blue Origin, is designed to be a heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of carrying astronauts to orbit and beyond, including the International Space Station and the Moon. While its first orbital flight in January 2025 successfully reached orbit, it was primarily designed for carrying cargo, including the Blue Ring Pathfinder, a test version of a spacecraft platform,. Future missions, including one targeting Mars, will likely utilize New Glenn for carrying spacecraft."Key points about New Glenn and its potential for astronaut missions: - Heavy-lift capability: New Glenn is designed to carry significantly more cargo than existing rockets like SpaceX's Falcon 9. Designed for human missions:
- While not yet used for human missions to the ISS, New Glenn is engineered with the safety and redundancy required for carrying astronauts.

What's your national debt at now? Don't want to know?

LOL Elon was the left's darling...and thats when He built SpaceX
Trump has nothing to do with the bidding process for launches
If somebody can do it better, cheaper and and faster, they will get the launch bids, so far nobody comes close

Trump just said that he rules the world, don't want to know?
