Is there anything to do in Canada?
#21
Back  in my corporate aviation days we would fly into a Canadian airport that could handle the jet and then take a few chartered single engine float planes further up north to one of many lodges on a Canadian lake to go fishing. One Trip we had a famous country western singer and his son along with 3 hookers out of Vegas that accompanied the whole big group to the fishing lodge. The Hookers were a blast around the Indian fishing guides as they did not know to look or "Turn away when the girls got UN-shy!"

The fishing was great and that was my first experience of walking up to a lake and seeing a black cloud of mosquitos rise to devour you; no joke ! No they were not the size of bats but there were so many I figure a normal person would have been drained like an empty beer can in short notice without a heavy jacket and hat. ....

I thought flying Perth to Cannarvon to go fishing for the weekend was the shiz when I was 12. But lets be real, I live at a beach, I can go fishing here. The hookers tho, only ever had one take me down the beach and that was COINTELPRO.

But tell us more about the hookers, because... science!

I remember you go by (Six Flags) Darian Lake, mercifully pass around Buffalo, cross the Rainbow Bridge, and then there's a tourist street that had places you could spend colored money with The Queen on it at.  I used to want to buy hockey pucks becuse that's the souvenir you bought when you were in Canada. There was also a tower with those viewer things and the boat that took you under the waterfall.

I wish i could give you a more adult answer but I was 12 last time I was in Canada.

Having the late Her Maj QEII has been the reality of coinage in my life. Its going to be hard to take with KC on the "heads" side.

1966 we had the Decimal Currency Act and so she has been o both our Pounds and our Dollars... I have nno idea about Canada. If I knew about Canada I wuld not have made the thread.

Learnt a lot so far.

The drinking age in Canada is 18. In high school we would get Bobs ID that made you 18.
So you can drink in Canada at a young age and go to strip bars. In 1990 when I was 16 the tunnel to Canada would leak near the middle. It was sweet! lol.

I learned how to go through customs at an early age. We would lie when they asked us where are you going. The agents knew we were going to drink.

Canadians say “Eh” after every sentence. Lol

Canadian bacon. They have special pigs in Canada. Oink

Yeah I know where Windsor is and the old Ford plant would be perfect for me if its accessible. We had a lot of Windsor V8s here and lets be honest, they are better than he Clevo.

Also Im in Australia where the drinking age is 3.

I didnt know about the tunnel, I bet a lot of drugs went thru there.

I don’t have a lot of experience in Eastern Canada. I rode my motorcycle out for the Digby, Nova Scotia “Wharf Rat Rally “, and rode around the bay of Fundy. Incredible amount of water movement during the tides! People were surfing in Moncton, NB in water that looked like hot chocolate!

I’m from Alberta in the west, and we have the West Edmonton Mall which was at one time the biggest mall in the world. Not my thing and I live 2 hours away from it. The Rocky Mountains are always amazing! Jasper and Banff are 2 towns in the heart of the Rockies, Jasper is west of Edmonton in the north, Banff is west of Calgary in the south part of the province. Vancouver is on the coast of course and there’s plenty to see and do there!

Although it’s in BC (British Columbia) or what we call BC (Bring Cash!!).

I don’t do the touristy stuff, but I rode through Davies Street in Vancouver during their Pride festival once and that was a pretty wild experience!! My wife grabbed me a plastic rainbow chain and threw it around my neck while I was not paying attention and was having a beer at what I thought was a biker bar. Apparently there is a leather fetish/biker subtype… Ha! My wife was dying of laughter when I started getting hit on by these guys!!
It was a blast, we all had a great time!

I’ve ridden across the country and met and seen some great people and fantastic sights, but almost no tourist stuff. Canadians are very welcoming all over.

Meh, sorry I can’t really help, other than to say come and see the Rocky Mountains and enjoy the country wherever you go!

So much here to respond to all your points but Alberta was in a possibly maybe list because we have an Albertosauraus  (spelling? ) skeleton in our museum, it was one of the big attractions when I was a kid.

The biggest mall is the exact kind of cheesy.

Pride, I wont do if travelling I marched once here and already on too many shit lists. I am glad you enjoyed Pride because some  take a lot of effort for you to enjoy the show.

Where in Canada does one go for skiing?

The weather vis Canada's big issue if they are goona draw in the tourists. Some bits are quaint like that parliament building with the army in fuzzy hats. But the weather is just not on side. Why did people go to the other side of the world and choose Canada. Many were Scottish types so were used to horrid weather. It's just too cold. When it warms up all it does is rain and rain and rain. That Vancouver place where the TV weather person comes on every day and says without fail................. "You guessed it, more rain." The red Indians doing that war dance thing that is quite interesting, the tourist board might want to push that a bit. Nice pick up trucks too, as big as our lorries in the UK. Might draw in the car people. Maybe advertise it as the 'Amsterdam of the Americas' too, make it a tourist hub for the druggies, there seems loads of them in the cities pushing shopping trollies.

Jasper, Banff and several other places have world class skiing in the Rocky Mountains. Both Alberta and BC.

Drumheller, Alberta has the Royal Tyrell Museum of Paleontology which is pretty fantastic actually. It’s in the southern part of the province. There’s actually some pretty amazing museums in both Calgary and Edmonton.

People from all over fly up to Yellowknife in NWT to see the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights. You don’t have to go that far north for that. I see them all the time in Alberta.
