Is South Park Even Funny Anymore?

That's why watching it now I find I laugh far less than 10 years ago, because it only has half the clever satire it used to, it is more focussed on crassness and political mud slinging.
So that is disappointing and also I just felt like sharing that I found some parts unfunny and very forced.

Apparently to a lot of people that automatically makes me a Trump supporter in their minds.  Which is bizarre af, as the world is made of more than 2 colours, but it is what it is , I suppose.

It's also why I stopped posting so much on this forum , the discussions lead nowhere as people seem unwilling to move outside of a binary or partisan view of life into something with nuance where we can learn or stretch our thinking.

Yeah, I get what you mean
Kinda like if I laugh at the Trump Vance bedroom scene, that automatically means I feel like I'm part of the superior more intelligent group and I want to make sure I'm on the 'right side'

Based on post histories with some people, that may very well be true, yes.
The occam's razor option is of course, you just find different things funny than I do.  Like if gay porn of political figures is amusing to you ,that's your right.  I am a firm supporter in free speech about absolutely everything.  I just have different tastes in humour.

I didn't like it when they did the scatalogical stuff either, to me that is just as stupid and unfunny.

That said ,if you have a thick skin and are able to see which parts are actually funny, and good satire (like the Anti AI and 'revenge porn' for example) then you can ignore the very , how to say, obvious attempts to please the Hollyweird Progressive purse string holders.   A big part of the change from the show the last 2 or 3 years is since they don't have to please the cable TV or Comedy Central censors.  Which in a way, is bad/lazy writing, but that's perhaps a different kettle of fish.

The "Peter Thiel, he knows a lot about the antichrist" spiel is pretty darn hilarious.

"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

That is funnier to me, I feel it's more societal and less blind political - I appreciate them warning about the use of religion and blindly led religious types, and also AI for control mechanisms in society.
I noticed they don't have the balls anymore to make fun of Muslims or Jews, but they do feel empowered making fun of Christians.  So that is also an interesting change in the last decade.

Maybe

but, yeah, we all make categorical judgements based on the words presented, here

Fair play to them though, they went down the pictures of Muhammad road about as far as they could.

They poke fun at all the religions.

Take for instance, the Post-COVID special where Cartman appears as a rabbi.

I think it's fair to say that it might be that the creators don't really "aim" to offend any exclusive group.

They seem to want to offend them all.  The order in which they choose to make fun... that may speak of bias... but it seems it is considered 'acceptable' bias by the audience.

I'm theoretically down with that (I say, flinching over tomorrow)

However, the repetition and choice of topics may be fueled by the media industry itself; after so long...

It seems to happen with all long-running creative series.

It's not just 'the order' in which they make fun, it's the blatant backing off and hypocrisy about making way more fun of one thing than another.
And also totally ditching the Kyles Moms a Bitch a dirty stikin Jew with Cartman as Hitler thing.
Also totally ditching Muslims. There is sooooo much they could mock about Muslims not integrating in the UK and Europe especially but they dont have the guts.
Its like you can't touch the Progressives sacred cows.
So per my very first post today, the bandwagons and bias are very strong, leading some things outside of the realm of humour, like I mentioned, and into what feels like paid smearing.
Shrug.

In all fairness.  Biden was like a living South Park character.  No need for anyone to expand on it.

That's what makes it so hypocritical.  they portrayed like all presidents.  but never him.  Too close to something.
