Just my two cents, but I don't see the Trump Administration making any formal deal till after the games. 
Big figures with deep pockets that need filling will profit from travel for the games on top of record profits from global supply issues due to conflicts and other things. Plus what if we make some deal that could maybe make us look bad and then Iran wins all the games? I don't watch feetball so I don't know how that works.

1.5 trillion defense, or somewhere in the budget has to have an allocation for doing EXACTLY THE SAME THING EVERY PRESIDENT BEFORE HIM DID WITH IRAN. Negotiate to unfreeze money.

Holy hell, we just walked in a massive circle to help Israel kill Iran's daddy and change nothing with the overall approach. Except we blew up a bridge and sank their navy this time.

So can we just swallow the poison and get this over with? He gets them to not dick around over uranium and I will be surprised.  Stubbornness vs Stubbornness in an endless feedback loop. 

Only a few weeks until we host the world's most important sporting event, with two countries the world isn't sick of, and get universally rooted against to lose.

Trump should want this over before then....

Thanks for your thoughts on the subject, and I certainly agree with. But I don't think this end until after the Games, I don't think there is enough time for it to happen before them.

Iran has to play Belgium and Egypt in their group so I don't fancy their chances.
