I remember the older generations back in the 70's complaing about the youth and the hair styles and not wanting to do physical jobs. The Job market changes and most jobs become less physical as machines replace the workforce. Appearance and clothing styles change yearly and some generations make huge leaps, look at the Rocker and Punk generations for giant changes.

Maybe the profession you are offered does not meet the expectations and demands of the market? I understand that caring for the elderly, caring for animals and other volunteer work are socially in demand. But the market decides everything. The problem is that leftist trends do not meet market demands. We need to achieve harmony through socialization and responsibility of business, when it becomes profitable for it to invest in social programs. But communism has nothing to do with it, since it destroys everything it touches.

My profession did meet the expectations of the market. English teachers are in demand. I just suck at teaching. Maybe not teaching itself but coping with spoiled unruly and mostly retarded brats.

What you're describing has nothing to do with communism. During communism teachers at school didn't have to be liked but they were respected. Parents were respected. Children knew their place. And now a young jerk will show you a middle finger and a headmaster will blame you because you failed to make him interested in your lesson. And your child will have a hissy fit if you don't give him what he wants. Like my little cousin is the king of the house. His parents are his servants.

This is the liberal upbringing, not a communist one. Now the professions that were once regarded as prestigious have lost their prestige. The same happened to university degrees. They devalued because everyone can now study if they pay the fees. There are many private universities that accept everyone.

I feel there has been a loss of respect in today’s workforce, that was not the case in the 70s. People also respected their elders more and if they were smart, learned from them.

Respect and integrity are also learned at home. My father, God Bless him, taught me if you’re going to do something, do it right. He would also wake me at 5:00 (even though I didn’t have to be to work til 9:00 lol), with a speech “What are you going to sleep all day, you’re going to have to work everyday for the rest of your life you'd better get used to it”. He’d leave breakfast on the table before he left for work. I still wake up everyday at 5:00, I work nights some days and it doesn’t matter, I’m up at 5:00. I appreciate his advice and Thank God he didn’t candycoat reality. I might not have survived without it.

Of course the internet wasn’t around, and he wouldn’t let me watch junk on television.

I miss the traditional family, and values of those days.

I’ve met some really impressive gen z workers, and Ive also met some truly lazy, spoiled, entitled whiners. I feel for them because life is hard enough as it is, I can’t imagine having unrealistic expectations in today’s world!

Everything that is personal is irrational. Emotions are the enemy of reality.

That's a bit dismissive of the individual and often enough sentiments like that being expressed whilst rearing a child results in emotional retardation. Something I consider pertinent to the reality of so called failing generations.

Expect a certain lack of maturity within society when kids are being raised by proverbially bigger kids. There's an ex-teacher in the room, a good opportunity to ask someone with experience just how much they had to teach that wasn't in the job description. When teachers have to teach basic manners, social skills and even potty training I'd say the parents are assumably incapable of raising a somewhat wholesome individual.

Obviously there's a lot more to "generational failings" although I would say it's better to understand the basics before blaming ideologies. I honestly don't know how child raising is done in Russia, there's a theme in the west where every generation tended to opt for a different way than their parents and I can't imagine it being all that different in Russia. Anyway, it's resulted in vastly different characteristics within the generations here. Generally each generation has failings they didn't fail to pass on, aspects of being they didn't develop and most of all poor traits they did pass on. A stereotypical statement I'd imagine but stereotypes do exist for a reason as they are measuring sticks.

It probably takes a village to raise a proper decent individual. If the parents are idiots and the neighbours are idiots what happens? Those kids are going to be ill-equipped to deal with the ideological mayor, the corrupt copper or the propagandist reporter. You know? The kind of people who don't care about society but young mouldable minds would assume do.

I stay hopeful that future generations might realise they don't need us but have the maturity to admit it's wiser to want us... Non of us are getting younger!
