I am sure that is part of it, but I know for a fact that peripheral vision is somehow connected with seeing things...out of the corner of your eye...which happens to me often.

Belief has nothing to do with it and the peripheral vision is only relevant in that something has to enter your field of view. Practising with peripheral vision won't give you magical powers, it just trains your awareness to not ignore what is there. Typically you are looking at an object, so your looking at something already, nothing is just going to pop in there, whatever you are trying to see is coming from somewhere.

You need to consider what you are asking. Belief?..vibrations, your vibe if you will. There are things you can do such a ceremonial magic/rituals. First you need to get clean and set the theme, decorate everything on all planes. There are countless grimoires to choose from, pick anyone. You need to set the vibe, alter your consciousness. It can be a long process so, you can take a shortcut. Act, literally act, pretend you are in a play, put on a mask, this is what an altered state of consciousness is. Your imagination is your gnosis.

Dance until you drop, do the death posture, walk on coals, fast, meditate 12 hours a day. Whatever tickles your fancy. Drugs and drinks you can choose.

Again you need to consider what you are asking.  Have a place of death directly to the east of you, and watch the sky. The spirits will fly west.

Consider what you want. Something to just pop out of nothing for no reason? Your camera is useless, if there was something it is able to record all the time and you just lacked the "power" you could just point it at random and record.

I advise against datura. It can kill or make a mess if you overdose. Had one friend get hospitalized and beat up a bunch of medical staff while tripping out from datura.

Got another friend that has been having visual hallucinations, seeing people that disappear when he goes to touch them. One doctor put it down to some interaction with the dream state of the mind getting mixed up with reality. 

Trying to gain mastery over your dreams is a better way to go than cooking your brain.

A lot of things can be noticed when it passes through he areas in your peripheral vision, but seemingly go unnoticed when it's in front of a persons face. The brain will often shut out things that it can't directly process when it shows itself, but when something is seen outside of the center of your vision, a person can see it off to the side. The exercise I gave helps in being aware of items in the peripheral areas of your vision.

Coming to clarify why I think it was connected to belief in the impossible, the last weird thing I saw happened just before I was told santa wasn't real. And also, when I looked the times I saw more than usual it was usually during times of hightened imagination(which my mom has used to try to tell me its just ny overactive imagination but I dont beleive her)
