Hi, I am butcherguy.

Hello all.
I am butcherguy. I was butcherguy at ATS since 2009.
I see a lot of old familiar names here. Just posting an introduction to let people know that I am here.

Welcome!

You know, it's probably mutual;  cats probably sense your disdain, and don't care for you either.    Tumble  I know that the wild chickens who live around us don't react to most people in the same way as they react to me.   They sense my malevolence.    We enjoy eating them, but beyond that don't care to have them around us.

That was likely more than you wanted to know Butcherguy.  Good to see you here Thumbup Thumbup

Cats seek me out and rub up against me. I wish they were able to sense my disdain.

Perhaps they sense your disdain, but choose to rub against you to taunt you.  Cats are odd creatures;  I believe they are all sociopaths and have little concern for your problems.   I believe they are capable of love, but express that in ways that are much different than, say, dogs.

They usually prefer people that leave them alone.

They do.

Personally, I love cats. Biggrin

High likelihood that they are picking up on disdain as distress and are offering affection to release stress.  Cats only release stress during rubbing licking and **cking so your not only misinterpreting their actions but are inviting them over just by being bothered.
Wear cologne/perfume and they won't touch you.

Argentus - when I see a little critter that people define as food I still see a cute little critter and don't see it as food...

Chickens on the other hand.  What a god awful thing to have walking this earth.  When I see chickens I think thats ugly, wrong and I want to eat it.

Couldn't agree with you more.    I grew up tending chickens and have developed a serious dislike for the messy, noisy creatures.   I do find them very tasty, however.

Hi butcherguy, how you been.  What you been up to lately.

Our last cat just died, not getting anymore since it is harder when your pet dies when you get older.  It's in the freezer waiting for summer to come so we can bury it.  I still have to make it an oak coffin with some brass trim to bury it in.

I like all animals, right now all we have are two does and a fawn born last year that we feed out the patio door, we don't have to empty litter boxes or clean up dog crap with the deer.  I have been trying with no avail to get them to poop in one spot to use as manure for the garden....but at least they do not poop by the deck where they get food thrown out the patio door for them.

I just retired at the end of February. I am building a custom truck camper and plan to take extended trips out West (western USA).
