I just retired at the end of February. I am building a custom truck camper and plan to take extended trips out West (western USA).

I am envious.   One of our favorite vacations has always been to just driiiiive and explore.   35 years ago we moved to the Caribbean, and there are not much in the way of wide open spaces.   Just before Covid, we were talking about taking the train across Canada and renting a motorhome for a leisurely three-week trek back to Miami.   Maybe, someday, if the world doesn't blow up.  

I love the West most of all.   All of it, even/especially the deserts, which have a special place for me.   I grew up in mountains, rivers, wilderness.    The West is still, for the most part so wide open and less spoiled.   Canada, Alaska, also wonderful.   I wish you joy and wonder on your voyages.
