Classic

Interesting The Car Opened May 13, 1977
Star Wars Opened June 1st 1977

Box Office Performance
  • Adjusted Domestic Gross:
Ultimate Movie Rankings estimates the film had an adjusted domestic gross of $41.50 million, a figure that accounts for inflation.
  • Lack of Wide Release:
Its limited distribution meant it was not shown widely to the general public, which impacted its overall box office earnings compared to movies with wide releases.
  • Limited Release:
The Car received a limited theatrical release, meaning it was shown in only a small number of cinemas in the United States.

Contextual Information
  • Release Date: The Car was released on May 13, 1977.
  • Other Notable Releases: The film's release was concurrent with other major films of 1977, such as Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope and Smokey and the Bandit, which had wide releases.
  • Interesting, It never got a wide Release, It looks like it got blown out by Star Wars. For a couple weeks there, I rember The Car being the "talk" of the neighborhood. There doesn't seem to be a lot of Box Office information on it????  [Image: bsod.gif]

Heres one a lot of people missed
Fright Night Part II (1988)
Obviously not as good as the Original.
Apparently there was trouble with distribution at release?

Here's a classic for Halloween.

Saw this at the cinema in my 20s, a great film at the time, and still fun to watch.

Late 70, 80's Horror rocked. Not sure some of those practical effects will ever be outdone.
I remember catching Return Of The Living Dead (1985) and was just blown away. ?

Interesting I always gave credit to ROTLD as the first time Zombies got some speed. But then I saw a documentary on ROTLD and apparently someone crew had worked on the Michael Jackson Music Video Thriller. You can see some of the similarites in Zombie design.

I just realized You probably have to give credit to John Landis, Michael Jackson, and the Dance Coordinator for actually help advance the Zombie trope. Somewhere within that video probably set the tone for the running Zombies in ROTLD.
Never put it together until I heard Thriller and ROTLD had some of the same crew.

In my late teens, around this time I had been wearing a WW2 grey RAF trench coat (I thought it was cool) Then the Lost Boys came out and confirmed that a trench coat was awesome!!  Lol Lol Lol

You should start a thread about best movie sound albums, as I'm sure most would agree that both of your picks are up near the top.

I'm still a proud owner the The Lost Boys CD!!!
