There is a billionaire behind Trump pushing for rare earth mineral extraction there and that is what is different here.

I honestly believe Trump has handlers.
Who will use him until he becomes a liability. Which I think is soon.

Trump just admitted to CNN that it's all about the minerals in Greenland.

cool cool, now that that's done, what's next, maybe panama?
Quote:China is the second-largest user of the Panama Canal, accounting for about 21.4% of the cargo volume transiting the canal from October 2023 to September 2024. This translates to thousands of ships, as approximately 14,000 vessels use the canal each year. https://www.cfr.org/articles/who-controls-panama-canal
Quote:President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to regain U.S. ownership of the Panama Canal, which the United States previously controlled until a treaty transferred full ownership to Panama in 1999. Trump’s bluntly stated desire, alongside comments he has made about acquiring Greenland, would violate the international principle of sovereignty and decades of U.S. foreign policy norms if translated into action. The canal facilitates hundreds of billions of dollars of trade each year. It is a central point for international commerce, vital to U.S. supply chains, and critical to Panama’s standing as a regional trade hub. Yet, China’s growing commercial ties to Panama and the region have fueled U.S. concerns about Beijing’s broader role in global shipping and port operations.
see, grrenland set the precident
had to do it first
but now what's panama's neighbor colombia going to do? can you say surrounded? haha just like canada.

It’s actually about keeping China from having a monopoly on rare earth minerals and keeping China from weaponizing dependence on them.

The wee notes from Marco would seem to support that logic.

You guys are missing the big picture. Get Europe to invest more in their own defense. Open up more sources of rare earth minerals to prevent China from having a monopoly and using that as an economic weapon.
I thought the west learned its lesson during Covid about putting too many eggs in the Chinese supply line. And weaning itself of the CCP which is basically one large evil corporation now. Nothing against the normal Chinese citizens, but the CCP is seeking world domination that cares nothing for free and open trade.

SO WHAT?
You want the minerals to be left wide open for China to get?
They already have almost all of them that are being developed.
(either direct ownership or at least control over them)
It would be a disaster for the world if China got a hold of them.
OF COURSE it's about the minerals.
And it's about strategic location.
DUH.

Must be all that 5D chess Trump keeps playing.
We just can't keep up.
It might be nice if he knew the difference between Greenland and Iceland, all the same.

Let’s see if they get weird again when pointing out the obvious concerning China and the CCP caring nothing about free and open trade. Only weaponizing trade.
