Greenland USA
(01-20-2026, 10:15 AM)fwki Wrote: My post said nothing about the US. And the size of the population has everything to do with establishing sovereignty, which Iceland did in 1944 and Greenland didn't. The world has changed and Greenland is SOL.

Yet the people who note that, or say Denmark has no “paperwork” to prove they own that never mention there is nothing that gives the US “rights” to Greenland.

This is the kind of arrogance that brings down empires. People forget how to lead by example in the world and just devolve into using their power to dictate. Not long after people push back.

The Denmark pension fund just came out and said they’re unloading their US treasuries. I don’t think they’ll be the last ones. What trust is left for nations for any deal we have with them? Trump has gone back on trade deals he inked in his first term. We’ve put arbitrary tariffs on people just because they do things internally we don’t like. Canada is the number one importer of US goods (or was), and they get treated worse than countries who don’t do shit for us. They’ve sacrificed troops next to ours in many of our wars, and are a country you can travel to while almost feeling like at home.

If our word isn’t worth anything, nothing else we offer is. If the treasuries get dumped, that’s it. Game over. It will hurt for the rest of the world too, but if they want to collectively screw us, that’s how they can.

You can claim it's a strawman argument.

I was just giving you other examples that had used your 'wonderful' idea!!

Sorry, I don't see the connection of 57,000 people absurdly laying claim to that landmass with Hitler et al.
Ever wonder where the WEF's iconic catchphrase came from?

"You will own nothing and be happy."
- Ida Auken, Danish member of parliament

See, that's what Trump is telling Denmark, and now they have a problem with it.
You will own not Greenland and be happy.

You said....
Quote:maybe carve out a small chunk they can reasonably govern, with special rights of access to the rest

Hitler did this with Germany's, Poland's and France's Jews, they were called concentration camps.

You're pretty much saying America should do this with the 'native' Greenlanders

U.S. lawmakers visited Copenhagen in an effort to "credibly reassure an ally" that the U.S. will not violate the NATO treaty. Even the rest of your own government see the sh*t show for what it is.

Doesn't change the fact of what I said one whit.

I'd point out that ALL these publicized propagandist videos of the EVIL ICE BOOGEYMEN occur in cities (and states) where the state and local law enforcement departments are not allowed to cooperate with DHS, starting with honoring detainers and including at least TRYING to prevent attacks on federal agents.

Depends on the poll.

The new catchphrase here is you don’t get to vote for anything, and be happy.

Trump won on no new wars and no regime change. He broke that and now wants to landgrab from an ally.

No Americans were talking about Greenland before all of this. All polls show a vast amount of Americans are opposed to buying Greenland, much less taking it by force.

People can’t afford health insurance, a house, and are struggling with cost of living. Our debt is going up without even an attempt to change that, and we’re more focused on Venezuela and Greenland than we are with our own house.

Im sure people think they’d benefit from Venezuela and Greenland, but they’re wrong. Corporations will profit off of that. The average citizen will get nothing, just like with Iraq. In fact, we’ll foot the bill to make it happen.

You carry on supporting children being gassed in their parents car on the drive home!!  What do you think Trump will do when/if he tries to forcibly take Greenland??  Do you think he'll allow them to demonstrate and march on the streets!!
