If the US committed forced sterilization in the 1980s, it was more morally reprehensible precisely because the US did not need to do so in order to maintain their security and their defense obligations to their allies. 

It does rather seem like Denmark, on the other hand, yes you've heard this before, can't afford to manage Greenland with adequate security for their own people without doing things to the natives which the rest of the world finds unacceptable.

That implies they may not be policing it adequately against Chinese and Russian encroachment.

The US never did anything to the Greenlanders.
