I still want to know why Greenland is covered in ice and Iceland is covered in Green.
Is there a bridge for sale too?

ukraine sez wut?
or do they think it's a bad thing america stepped in to help?
if greenland shared a border with russia like ukraine does, instead of depending on the arctic ocean as a buffer, they would likely be a lot less comfortable relying on their european owner's staunch opposition to "appeasement".

LoL
Erik the Red is responsible there.

For what it's worth, if isn't gonna cut it in this case.
Fact is that there is an obstacle between Russia and Greenland. And considering the current context, the "Russia threat" seems a bit "grasping at straws". I'd expect the same in the case of China, but well, I may be wrong. It's not like I'm Xi's BFF or something.
Maybe the actual objective is the 'end of NATO'? Or the implementation of a technocratic city as cherokeetroy's posts suggest?
In any case, it seems Jung's and Bjorn's thought about a "charismatic character" appearing before major events may actually be spot on.

This is a well-thought out post. Fact is, I believe the situation is not simplistic, it is complex and no single force or agenda is at play, but many. There is the issue of Russia and China, sure. But there is also movement with the evolving role of NATO, US-EU alignment, rare mineral and resource economics, next-generation defence system deployment, the increasing traversability of the Northwest Passage and its impact on the balance of Pacific/Atlantic trade flow versus Central America, offshore oil feasibility, the role of Canada, economics of data-centre cooling, transhumanist fantasies, and and so many other things. Denmark is not in a position to give Greenland the advantages it can gain from its position in these events; America is. I suppose we'll see how it all plays out.
