Good news! Another state agreed to change the way we decide national elections
#1
Looks like another U.S. State has signed on to the rolling snowball and endorsed The National Popular Vote count for Presidential Elections will steer a state's Electoral College!

Several States are trying this as well.

Probably all unconstitutional and disruptive!

So why would it be legal to have National voter results automatically over ride a State's localized results?

Quote:I don’t know what to make of Abigail Spanberger, the former member of Congress who now is the governor of Virginia. At times, she has made me nervous with her tendencies toward Third Way-No Labels politics. (Third Way crowed very loudly over her blowout win for governor.) She has rankled Democratic members of the state legislature, who wonder if her campaign was something of a bait-and-switch. But, over the last couple of days, she made a couple of moves that moved her up a few notches in the shebeen’s estimation. First, she kicked Confederate nostalgia right in the goober peas. From The New York Times:

Quote:Gov. Abigail Spanberger of Virginia has signed into law a bill to end tax exemptions for a slate of Confederacy-related organizations in the state. The signing by Ms. Spanberger on Monday is the culmination of a yearslong Democrat-led push to shake off the state’s legacy as the capital of the 11 Southern, slaveholding states that seceded from the country in the 1860s.

Waitaminute.

So the federal government cannot per the Constitution, dictate how states can structure their voting.

Yet a single state, per the evil communist left, can dictate how all states vote?
You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people's opinions.

Definitely shitting on the electoral college...

But a key provision of this interstate compact is they cant do it until 270 electoral votes agree to it.. and it might stand at 222 for a bit.

... all the state's that would sign already have.

Michigan
Wisconsin
Ohio
Pennsylvania
North Carolina
Georgia
Florida
Texas
Arizona

...wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole.
Plus, the electoral college is the only thing keeping it from being democrat president every 4 of 5 terms. And it would piss off 26 to 33 states.

It seems absolutely freaking ridiculous, and Orban showed the extent of how much electoral votes can be manipulated, but we're too diverse to ever gerrymander a supermajority in either direction.

So its like, "I understand why everyone wants it, but it's only electing Hillary, and this term still happens even with a popular vote."

Had this compact been in effect 2 years ago California's electoral votes have to go for Trump, and he would have won 529 to 9, with only New Mexico and New Hampshire going for Harris. So its a double edge sword 20% of the time.

The federal government can regulate federal elections.
It takes an act of Congress, and Congress has never bothered to act.
This is the sort of thing that Congress may well act upon.

So, let me see if I’ve got this straight - the locals vote, it’s tallied and Jack Johnson wins. But EVERYONE ELSE votes for John Jackson, so the vote for that state changes to John Jackson as well? What’s the point of that?

To be honest?

It was probably drafted for the next time a democrat loses the electoral vote but wins the popular vote....

Though in application, it is way more likely to be enacted in elections like 2024, where it would have compelled every compact state to vote for Trump... Where as it wouldn't have flipped anything in 2016.

So total waste of time that will never get to 270 to show displeasure Trump won...

Okay, that makes sense. I forgot that America has the Popular Vote and the Electoral College Vote. This law makes one change to match the other, gotcha.
