Ignorance creates racism.
You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people's opinions.

I don't think it is that those groups are naturally stupid. It is more like the stupid ones are the loudest. They feel a need to make noise and be seen more than to think.
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?

There will always be those at the extreams of every possible group. See my post above.

Those extreamists need to be ignored instead of put on the news.

No-one would be able to gerrymander anything if you had a 'one-person, one-vote' system.

The EC system disenfranchises most of the citizens of America, reducing the power of their vote and giving it away to others.

The EC ensures that just 275 votes are all that are required to win power over a country of about 348,721,077 people.

No matter what the popular vote is, the EC is the vote that actually decides who the government is, which turns your whole election shadow-play into classic "bait and switch".

Actually the 'one-person, one-vote' system as described and interpreted by you, would create too much absolute power in the U.S. system Presidency.  It could also create limits on The Legislative and Judiciary Branches.  Perhaps that's one reason they created an Electoral College system like they did.  Keep in mind votes for President are "Popular" vote (aka Mob Rule) in all States regardless of Congress Districts and Senate makeup, thus emphasizing population voting as intended.   Smilegrin  The general EC system also safeguards against absolute mob power rule common in many overpopulated voting areas like we see in some States and big Cities.

And yet someone can be highly educated.

Yet still racist.

If they're emotionally invested in the prejudice.

Or they think they can gain from the fear and hate.

Ignoring them doesn't make them go away.

Christ, even eradicating them only makes them go underground for a generation or two...

The EC system doesn’t prevent “mob rule”.  It simply allows the smaller of two mobs to do the ruling. If that happens to be the mob you identify with, I can see why you would be in favor of it.

Actually the few times The EC beat The Popular vote, Mob Rule ultra consolidated top heavy vote pockets ruling the whole country was prevented and limited.  Which "Mob" do you think I prefer, and why?  Smilegrin

Another consideration for The EC is balancing top heavy Districts that have a higher than average number of voters vs People-Population that can't vote (children, non vote eligible immigrants, etc.).

Why would somebody be in favor of, for example, The 3 Biggest Cities (NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles) ruling the whole United States Executive Branch?     Saint

Obviously you havent pledged your alliegence to the flag as the USA is a Republic, not a Democracy. Heres the AI definition:

A republic is a representative government ruled by law (a constitution), while a democracy is a government ruled by the majority. In a republic, citizens elect representatives to make decisions, whereas a pure democracy involves citizens voting on all laws directly. The U.S. is a constitutional representative democracy.

Democrats are mudding the water as they obviously DONT SUPPORT THE CONSTITUTION and the SPIN is that USA is a DEMOCRACY. NO WERE NOT and whats up with the foul language.?
