Gerrymander based on ideology instead of race

Gods!

Can you have a discussion without tossing in skin color?

Jeez!

racism /rā′sĭz″əm/
noun

1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.
3. The belief that each race has distinct and intrinsic attributes that apply to all without variance.
4. The belief that one race is superior to all others.
5. Prejudice or discrimination based upon race.
6. Discriminatory or abusive behavior towards members of another race.
7. The prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races.

Seeking racial equity is, in fact, anti-racist.

We all had African ancestors.

The last time I looked Irish people were and are still white, right? Did I miss something?

How much African DNA is in Denisovian DNA?

Whenever you make a determination based on skin color, it's racist.

Period.
You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people's opinions.

How much African American ancestral money was lost forever when white racists burned down the section known as 'Black Wall Street' in Tulsa?

I try to use culture instead of race.  There is Gerrymandering everywhere (see Arizona) - but this one is specific to Virginia (a southern slave state).

A majority of these voters are descendants from the slave trade.  It's part of a culture they evolved from within. Those of dark skin have only had Equal Rights since 1964.

Yes - equity is the right word:  the quality of being fair and just, especially in a way that takes account of and seeks to address existing inequalities.

It implies a law is counter to the Constitution and is therefore invalid.
I could list thousands of cases where, according to you, various Presidents (and Congress itself) can be considered to be "lawbreakers" under this weird view of yours.

Harte

I could cite those many cases where branches of the government have contravened the US Constitution as proof that the USA is significantly corrupt and lawless in comparison to the ideals it claims to espouse.

There is a trajectory of increasing corruption of political and legal principles and corresponding degeneration of social order, but the increase over different administrations is not linear. It is accelerating.

Oh - how many times have we read on these forums "schools need to teach history".

IF ONLY!  I've been delving into history quite a bit lately -- very eye opening -- especially "women in history".

When I read statements like: "Women should just stand up for themselves" . . . uh sure.

Anyway - the history we were taught in school was so white-washed it should have been banned as fiction.

Texas still teaches we won the Alamo -- by legal decree.

I think that was a rant -- rant over -- back to Gerrymandering :)

You're still focused on skin color.

Get over it Karen.  Its 2026.

People don't care anymore.

Except racists.

Today it has shifted from those with African, Asian and Middle Eastern origin, to South American immigrants.

It's still there.
