FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the wildfires in Southern California are caused by climate change.
 
Criswell said, “We’re seeing the change coming from climate change, and we’re seeing more significant severe weather events. That’s what we’re seeing here in California.”
 
Host Jake Tapper said, “You just touched on something we’re hearing from a lot of survivors of these fires, which is this idea that this is just the new world we’re living in due to the climate crisis extreme heat, prolonged, prolonged droughts, hurricane force, Santa Ana winds, all of that created the tinderbox fueling this catastrophe. Does this scale of devastation in Los Angeles indicate that we as a country, are just simply not prepared for the realities of the climate crisis?”
 
Criswell said, “Well, I think what we have to do is look at what these new weather events are bringing, the severity that they’re bringing, and think about what the future risk is going to continue to be. And as we have these tragedies, we also need to make sure that we’re taking this as an opportunity to rebuild these communities in a way that’s going to make them more resilient against these types of disasters. I talked about this all last year. FEMA had a year of resilience and trying to get people to understand what is it we do to protect these communities and reduce the impact. There are things that we can do, and those are the steps we’re going to have to take to make sure that they don’t have as much impact as we’re seeing right now from these fires.”

Democrat Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey has claimed that the Los Angeles fires are the result of a climate change “disaster” stoked by President-elect Donald Trump’s embrace of “Big Oil” — and there is “more death” coming as a result.

Those fires are most likely caused by carelessness, homeless people building fires to cook, arson, and faulty electric transmission lines that are overtaxed by switching away from petroleum too quickly creating increased risk of overloading of electrical equipment.   Some may be caused by arson too.

People smoking joints out hiking are not helping things either, now that cannabis is legal there, and hiking is the in thing for exercise.

I thought it was always humid in southern California, it thrives with less rainfall there from what I read.  Maybe because they got so much more water available now since many lakes are filling up lately, they are restricting bringing it into the cities so they can continue making more money on less water.  They kind of want the increases in prices to continue there.  Conservation of water and creating a risk by limiting the water in the area are opposites.  The fires that are all over California lately are adding to climate change if you want to get technical....there are too many people there that are ignorant of protecting nature.  I really do not like those Chinese candles they let go in the sky, way more of a threat than that Chinese Balloon they shot down that was spying.

IF climate change was real, and all these folks are blaming climate change for increased fires, then why haven't they taken any precautions or prepared for anything? Why do they do the opposite and remove all the water and let the under brush pile up? 

Looks like they are totally contradictory and have some sort of issue with their brains and common sense.

I feel that the new trend coming from those elected officials in government is to blame every natural disaster on clima change in order to distract people from incompetence.

Is one thing you can no do and is trying to cover the sky with one hand in order to hide facts, plus no amount of lipstick can made a pig more attractive.
