Uhmmm, making tech is what we do, it's our nature. We stray from nature with intent not because of tech. I don't have a problem with transhumanists and think mixing in spirituality is necessary. I am part of nature, what I do is not unnatural. Replacing a lost limb with a prosthetic is good we all agree. Why are we drawing artificial lines? 

The main issue here is hidden knowledge held by a small group and this group has a history of blood going from the OP.  I don't see how they suddenly have the wisdom to be our masters. The whole notation of orders and secrets is anathema to me in any case.

The problem in my humble opinion is not the tech.
it is the push and some peoples drive to merge with the tech.

I agree with the push and the merge, I don't agree with abandoning nature or any of the culty stuff.  Small scale "cults" is okay and really just a community and needed. If you break your leg your fucked when alone, stuff like that.

Masters of all mankind is a bit of stretch though, why this time will it not end in oppression and start with war?

So the cultism is just an effective control mechanism on people and information. The esoteric stuff is mostly vices and hubris. The "left hand" in a literal sense.  Just wave the wrong hand and confuse the sense of the audience. "Drama" is part of the magic.  Read this quote again.
