Eggrolls
#1
Edit: Thank you to whoever modded this and merged my pictures into one, it was insanely difficult to do that on my tiny phone!

I made maybe the most delicious egg rolls ive ever had and if anyone is interested in my secret recipe let me know. The filling included: bean sprouts, jullienned carrots, chopped scallions, chopped onions, minced garlic, chopped cilantro and large shrimp. I'll include some pictures in the next post.

I've never eaten an egg roll or shrimp lol.

At least I've learned something, I googled it!

I've never eaten shrimp as I don't like the look of it.

The secret to the flavor is in that sauce. I've been cooking many Asian dishes lately such as chow fun, bok choy, Lo Mein, these egg rolls. I've been marinating all my meat using this secret recipe sauce i made up. 2 tbs soy, 1tbs dark soy, 1 tbs oyster sauce, 3 tbs hoisin sauce, 4tbs brown sugar. Sometimes I also add 2 tbs of rice wine if its a marinade like for steak, ribs, pork belly, or chicken. If you would like the instructions for making this for yourself let me know, and if you ever try my sauce I hope you enjoy ^.^ I know you will

You can use whatever meat you have handy for this recipe. Ground chicken or pork is just as well. The more finely chopped the better. You can egg roll anything really Biggrin you dont even need to add meat if you dont want and many add glass noodles to the filling but I did not since ive been cooking many noodles lately

Fun fact! The egg roll is simply flour and water like a tortilla except you add an egg into the mix which gives it its crust! Its basically Asian burrito or chimichanga Biggrin

I've just realised that what you call egg rolls we call spring rolls. So I may have eaten a couple back in the day. Never with shrimp though!

Spring rolls do not have egg, only flour and water. Some countries use rice paper. The egg is what gives egg rolls its name. Spring rolls are the traditional way. Egg rolls came into existence in the 1970s I believe. I am familiar with Vietnamese cuisine as well as some Filipino. The only knowledge I have of spring rolls origin comes from china where they would eat them in the spring on a certain day I forgot the name of the day, but many Asian cultures have their own version of spring rolls.

Im amazed you are surrounded by water and have never eaten shrimp ^.^ I also cooked the shrimp in a garlic butter sauce that I didnt show in the pictures sssshhhh

To me, shrimp and Lobster taste fairly similar if you've ever had lobster. Shrimp is not far from lobster, i wouldnt say same taste but close. Lobster is way better I think im going to make lobster egg rolls next time thats genius
