Earth vs. the Flying Saucers
#1
In the film, humanity is thrown into chaos when unidentified flying objects begin appearing in the skies, bringing destruction and terror. As governments scramble for answers, a team of scientists uncovers the truth: an alien invasion is underway, and the visitors are far from friendly. Armed with advanced technology and bent on conquest, the extraterrestrial forces push Earth to the brink of collapse. With the fate of the planet hanging in the balance, a desperate race against time begins to find a way to fight back before it's too late. Will humanity survive the impending doom? Starring: Hugh Marlowe, Joan Taylor, Donald Curtis

Prob that the most recent version of this film (with keanu reeves) is the one that most people remember, when it's obviously a remake

Yes and thank you. Those movies and many others I saw back in the 50s which at the time could instill wonder as most people were not so jaded or knowledgeable as they are today....

Both excellent examples of a different time (people who would feel as aliens among us now.)

But, in the end the dream is the same...

Personally I think of this as the great grand parent of "Aliens"

It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958?)

But I couldn't find an embeddable link...

It's about a crew unwittingly trapped on a return space-voyage from a doomed prior expedition to Mars.
Hidden creature, one-by one preying pattern (ala Die Hard,) desperation and tension...
The human drama is about a lone survivor presumed to have killed his crew while on Mars.
Technically, it easily passes muster for fans of the genre I've met.

If it isn't, it should be considered a classic.

In my opinion

This is the only sci-fi movie that has ever gave me nightmares. No others that I have watched before or after ever did.

I think it was renamed to something else...

I have to admit... it scared me too...

Sort of "didn't see that coming scared."

So good that it's been copied (a lot).

The original UK title is "Quatermass and the Pit", "Five Million Years to Earth" is the US title.
