I deal with facts. One is that the USA has now developed the largest Rare Earth element find in Texas along with a huge Lithum deposit. USA is already the largest exporter of oil. So, USA is no longer dependant on China. So the F Off is on. Will their fate be like Japan in 1990 when they were buying all the farms and real estate in USA. Then they collapsed financially and still havent recovered 30 years later.
Round Top Deposit
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Round_Top_Mountain
Round Top is known for containing rare-earth elements, including the largest deposit of heavy rare-earth elements in the United States, estimated at over 1 billion tons.[5] The rare-earth elements contained in the mountain can be used to build energy and defense applications as well as electronic devices, lasers, in oil and gas drilling, water treatment, and other uses.[11] The deposit in the mountain includes five light and 10 heavy rare-earth elements.[11] The heavy rare-earth mineralization at Round Top is unique, with these elements hosted in yttrofluorite, a variety of the mineral fluorite.[14] No similar deposit has been described elsewhere.[14]
What Trump is sdoing is all about the National Security of the USA as that deposit is located 16 miles from the Mexico border. So, were the drug vartels funded by China about to take it over? Well, at least your in good company as the pope share the same views on an open border.
Brought to you by the administration that promotes 'clean coal' (why do you even trust them when the lies are so obvious?).
Of all the core samples retrieved from Round Top to date, rare earth minerals from the site are measured in
parts per million:
The graph is also on a logarithmic scale on the X-axis, so there's actually stuff-all there of most of the REE's.
Yeah, it's a big site and probably has lots of rare earth minerals in total, but the site was deemed economically unviable in the 90's. It still is. Extraction of parts-per-million minerals from such a vast amount of largely inert rhyolite is going to be fairly expensive (you have to crush the mountain to powder and then soak it in sulphuric acid to leach out the REE's). And most of the mass mountain is still going to exist afterwards, just as toxic tailings, not as a mountain.
And, also, in that graph, where's the lithium? Have you noticed that although they are REE's, that there isn't very much of the specific ones required for micro-electronics and batteries (lithium, neodymium, tantalum, cobalt)?
Even if they did start mining it in a big way tomorrow, it would be years before it would get a positive return on the money invested, and in the interim, America would be unable to manufacture electronics without paying a premium for foreign components and resources. To make a profit, they'd have to raise prices, to cover costs.
Tariffs on imports are just another way tax is levied against the average consumer, except with a bit of sleight of hand to hide who actually gets the 'extra' money. The only ones getting hands on that money are the government. Even the owners of big competing US manufacturers don't actually get any of that cash. And the consumers pay for it all in the higher costs of everything touched by trade.
The US stock markets lost over 20 trillion at just the suggestion of the tariffs. Even if the market recovers, that money at that time is now gone, it depressed the money would have usually been made by normal trading, and since Trump hadn't even really implemented the tariffed trades yet, he hasn't made any money back
at all from that market instability he caused. Trump said that the market would "boom" even as the markets were diving. He just lied.
