I liked it mostly because of the main character, DCI Carl Morck played by Mathew Goode.  He is very irreverent towards everyone and everything.  Returning to service after being shot on duty he is given his own department, "Q", and what others deem unworthy assistants to work cold cases.  

I just like those types of characters, you know, whose cutting remarks add a little comedy to an otherwise drama presentation.

We also watched it, found it good entertainment so much so watched all episodes so kept our interest.
