Re-reading “The Source” by James A. Michener. It’s been a few years since the last read, and I have limited access to books up here at work, but came across this beauty.

After this I have “The Stand” by Stephen King. The last time I tried to read it was the start of the Covid lockdown and I suddenly realized that maybe I should find something a bit lighter to jump into! Ha!!

I haven't read The Source, which is odd as I've enjoyed most of his other books. I'll give this one a go.

I do reread The Stand once a year. I also read his newer one Fairy Tale this year. It was reminiscent of The Talisman which I enjoyed.

I reread Contact again this year as well. With Kindle I read 100 or so books a year. I usually go with all the free reads, so most are not by famous authors.

I've just started a 7 book series titled Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. My sister and nephew are also reading the series. Dystopian, kind of like a reality show, comical. Not so bad so far. We will see.

Carl is a fun series although I checked out around book five because it felt a little repetitive and I sort of lost inertia with it and you know how those things are, he keeps writing them! Perhaps will reread some day from the beginning.

One series I have re-read multiple times is Mother of Learning by Domagoj Kurmaic. It is a month-long timeloop, with a main character that matures and grows in ability. Very fun to see how his approach changes:

Donut! Yes, I'm only on the first book and I've already wondered if it will hold my attention for all 7.

Thanks for that suggestion as well. I'll add it to my list.

Damn. That's impressive.
I don't like reading on screens, I don't think I retain the information as much and it tires me eyes- I seem to gloss over it more than on paper. 
I think I probably read about 2 books a month probably.

Many people can't relate to sleeping so erratically that reading becomes the only guarantee of "entertainment" with agency...

(I'm sure they'll find a way to force ads into books... or give up on books entirely.)

Sleep disorders are apparently my karmic purpose to endure... reading helps a lot.

You and me both.  Is 3:00 a.m.  your wakey hour?   It is mine.   I don't mind.   I can either stay awake and think repetitive thoughts, or read.   I like reading.   

I am now re-reading Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged", also restarting Lee Child's wonderful series with "Reacher".    Ongoing time-filler, like when I'm waiting at hospital is "The Dancing Wu Li Masters", a wonderful blend of physics, quantum physics, and philosophysics.  (yeah, I just made up that last term, but it fits.)   GREAT book.

ETA:  When I discovered there was a Kindle ap that I could put on my phone, I became  truly free.   Never had to carry a book or Kindle again.   I can outwait ANYthing as long as I can read.   Oh, Glory.
