We all know the old trope of the tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist who believes crazy things like "the government is spying on us" and "the military is spraying things in the sky" and "the CIA ships in the drugs." Except those things aren't so crazy after all. Here are five examples of things that were once derided as zany conspiracy paranoia and are now accepted as mundane historical fact.

Does seem these days TPTB aren't too impressed with people thinking for themselves but suppose when it comes to 'alternative' opinions on 'official' narratives then full freedom of enquiry is a pretty important factor when living in a healthy, functioning society.

Lots of other avenues to explore when it comes to conspiracy realism (including Hegelian dialectics and modern day Mockingbird) but despite the objective reality of it all there does appear to be an ongoing and concerted campaign by mainstream toadies to suppress and vilify the subject.

As well as the FBI document mentioned above there's also this recent 'study' which proclaimed that CT's make people 'criminal' - will also never forget British politician David Cameron's very silly comments about non violent conspiracy theorists being 'just as dangerous as 'ISIS'.

The Central Intelligence Agency released the following memo in April 1967 categorized as “PSYCH” which essentially weaponized the use of the label “conspiracy theorist” and laid out a number of dirty tactics using “elite friendly contacts” including politicians and media figures to discredit and shut down any claims and ultimately demonize anyone who attempted to challenge the government’s official version of events.

This is how it worked then and it’s clearly still how it works today.

It may not matter much anyway as thanks to 2012 alterations to the Smith-Mundt Act it's now perfectly legal for the U.S. Government to domestically disseminate propaganda to the public - also turns out a 2009 Florida Court ruling also made it perfectly legal for corporate news channels to lie to the public.

The fact that among in all these examples we are finding paper-trails, and explicit documentation, shows that 'record-keeping' was being done. 

Are we not potentially facing some horrible 'projects' 'initiatives' and "science experiments" which don't have accessible records, or maybe no records at all?  I get that all we could possibly find is "allegation" and "hearsay" which wouldn't necessarily exclude it from reality.

Moreover,  declassified U.S. Government documents show that in the 1960s, the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff signed off on a plan code-named Operation Northwoods to blow up American airplanes (using an elaborate plan involving the switching of airplanes), and also to commit terrorist acts on American soil, and then to blame it on the Cubans in order to justify an invasion of Cuba.

Well know most folks on these boards will already be aware of these antics but some may not.

Posted it over on another thread but regarding 'science experiments and accessible records' then the CIA / Rockefeller funded MKUltra are a good example whereby 'virtually no aspect of potential control of human beings went untested'.

Tens of thousands of people experimented on including military soldiers, civilians, inmates, hospital patients and children - all without consent.

The FBI has repeatedly encouraged and sometimes paid Muslims to commit terrorist acts. Right before the would-be terrorists can carry out the assault, the FBI swoops in and claims to save the day. The FBI never informs the public that it concocted the plan. It simply takes credit for keeping the public safe. This effectively raises a false flag on the American people and keeps the citizens fearful of terror groups while erroneously reinforcing the notion that the FBI is capturing terrorists.

Lawsuit Says St. Louis Citizens Sprayed With Radioactive Chemicals In Secret Military Experiment

According to a recent report by a professor at St. Louis Community College, the United States military conducted top-secret experiments on the citizens of St. Louis, Missouri for years, going so far as exposing them to radioactive compounds.

The researcher, Professor Lisa Martino-Taylor, said that while it has long been known that the government sprayed supposedly harmless zinc cadmium sulfide particles over St. Louis, she claims that a radioactive additive was also mixed with the compound.

Martino-Taylor says she has found detailed descriptions as well as photographs of the spraying which exposed the unwitting public, predominantly in low-income and minority communities, to radioactive particles. In her research, she found that the greatest concentration of spraying in St. Louis took place at the Pruitt-Igoe public housing complex, which was home to 10,000 low-income residents. She said that 70% of those residents were children under the age of 12..

Now that details have emerged of the chemical testing, a recent lawsuit filed in City Court says that the agriculture giant Monsanto and others conspired with the military to secretly poison residents of St. Louis with toxic chemicals.

Federal researchers secretly fogged Minneapolis and St. Louis during the Korean War. In 1966, they would run a similar experiment on New York City, dropping light bulbs filled with Bacillus subtilis variant niger into subway stations during rush hour to see how far the bacilli would spread—more than a million New Yorkers were exposed. In all, the Army acknowledged having conducted bacteriological tests on 239 populated areas between 1949 and 1969.

The tests were part of a large-scale, secret program of germ warfare research and development. The CIA researched possible targets, such as the Moscow subway, and military researchers designed a biological balloon bomb that could carry infectious spores far into enemy territory.

The Pentagon tested and stockpiled means of inducing illness. By 1971, its arsenal of weaponized disease contained, among other articles, 220 pounds of anthrax, 804 pounds of tularemia, 334 pounds of Venezuelan equine encephalitis, 5,098 gallons of Q fever, and tens of thousands of bombs.

The light bulbs were packed with about 175 grams of Bacillus subtilis bacteria, then known as Bacillus globigii — approximately 87 trillion organisms in each. The plan was to shatter them and then use the sampling machines to see how they spread through the subway tunnels and trains.

This test was one of at least 239 experiments conducted by the military in a 20-year “germ warfare testing program” that went on from 1949 to 1969. These experiments that used bacteria to simulate biological weapons were conducted on civilians without their knowledge or consent. This is just looks insane when we think about this today in 21st century that a big pharma company could ever intentionally transmit HIV for profit. If you are newer to research and pharmaceutical field, you may never of heard about it.

This article is a case of research misconduct and violations of basic medical principles and business ethics. Cutter Laboratories, a subsidiary of Bayer corporation identified that their blood products or antihemophiliac factor (AHF) were infected with HIV, instead of demolishing it they sold the infected AHF to under developing countries and it leads to develop AIDS in thousands of individuals who received those products..

Bayer has paid over $600 million in settlements for what they have called in Taiwan “humanitarian aid” rather than compensation for wrongful death.

History is littered with many “conspiracy theories” that turn out to be fact.

I don’t think it really matters though.

Either you’re someone who has studied history or hasn’t. Either you think critically or you don’t. Either you think government is THE solution, part of the solution or is the problem (all of which can be somewhat true depending on the topic).

“Conspiracy theories” are just the study of “what’s really going on”. If someone wants to plant the flag that any thought or observation that runs contrary to the “official narrative” is somehow unsmart then they are welcome to that stance. They will have to come to their own conclusions over time - or not - to their own potential demise.

If someone isn’t open minded enough to at least consider alternate trains of thought or perspective it’s just not worth your time to try and educate them.
