Ciggy tax in Australia

you cannot sell tobacco, distilled spirits, beer, or wine without a license
it is legal to brew beer and wine for personal use, but you cannot sell or give it away

as a famous australian said, "that's not a nanny state; this is a nanny state"

So is cannabis, but if you want to you can get it anywhere. In the UK a small grow can give a few people a good living. If they are not too greedy the repeat customers will not be dobbing you in. So essentially it is unenforcable like the illegal ciggy sales in Aussie.

As an Aussie smoker, have been on the chop chop for a while. The government has gone nuts with the it tax with regular hikes over the past 5 - 10 years. If I had to pay full price these days, the bill is higher than my rent bill. I buy smokes before I buy food. Financially I could of sunk like many of the unnamed homeless these days.

I kinda get that the government wants to do something to discourage the next generation getting that hook in them. For those where it is too late, financial destruction does more harm than cigarettes.

Can you get chop chop rollies?

Even though I quit, I still grow tobacco. I also developed ways to process it based on tobacco industry practices. If you can grow it, that is what I would do, even if your growing season is a little shorter than where they normally grow tobacco.

I moved to rollies a long time ago, cut the price in half learning how to roll. Still like a good Marlborough occasionally. Chop chop is the term for the loose, dried out and chopped up tobacco.

Pre rolled cigarettes are also moving in the market, more international, all sorts, don't really know?

A good heads up with the way things are going. There is some wild tobacco growing out in the county, has a bad reputation smoking long term to survive out there.

The farm managed stuff, goes back hundreds / thousands of years? Been a part of global trade for a while. So if you where in Australia, how would you go about getting started here with a good blend?

Cigarettes are a blend of Virginia and Burley tobaccos. They use the medium sized leaves for cigarettes and harvest before it flowers. The processing uses raw cocoa and or dark chocolate, licorice or anise, molasses or brown sugar, extract of peppermint for mentholated tobacco, and some other flavorings.

The seeds are tiny, smaller than poppy seeds. You sprinkle them on top of the soil to plant and need around five to six months for a growing season. They need a lot of fertilizer and direct sun.

I was surprised how small bakky seeds when I saw them.  Penalties are worse than growing weed here.

We could make this continent green if only we all worked together
I was not here.

The law in the states is grow as much as you want for personal use, just don't sell or trade it. I grow it for looks and insecticide now that I quit smoking cigarettes.

Now most smokers are seriously either buying or thinking about buying illegal smokes sold at the same tobacco shops that sell the taxed ones The cops don't bother the sales as if they closed the shop it would open again the next day. So the difference is ten dollars a pack for illegal brands and sixty for legal...The end result is a massive drop in revenue for the government. In fact so much it could have done a lot of serious good. If the government really cared about the peoples health they would have looked at the food supply first. Australia's Illegal Tobacco Trade is Going to BOOM | Australian Government Raises Tobacco Tax 5%

Yeah, they should have looked at the food supply first.  There are lots of different chemicals in our food supply that increase cancer risk and metabolic health.  Lots of medicines also negatively effect isolated parts of our metabolism or endocine system.  Fix one problem and create another.
