Yes.   I don't mind soup slurping, but really don't like chomping/chewing sounds, and REALLY DON'T care for people chewing with their mouth open, or talking with food in their mouths.

I can't guess why I don't like this.   I guess it disgusts me.   Why do people bite off a big bit and store it in their cheek while they process it?  Just, please, for the love of [insert deity] take a smaller bite.

I can't think of anyone in the West who would say they like the sound of people eating. It's offputting.
In Japan if I didn't make noise eating people , would think I didn't like it though.

Yes I agree for some reason ramen slurp is not so annoying! Perhaps it is the because the way it should be. And why does Japan have so many word for delicious?? https://www.alexrockinjapanese.com/best-...-and-more/

But there is more with the chew sound I think is something primal or weird like ancestral memory or repressed old dreams nightmare feeling about the aversion? It is strange to pin down.

Well, it is annoying. It's even a recognised phobia..., more precisely, misophonia.

I prefer to eat alone as I slurp my .

Thanks for the search term! I wonder what causes it though.

Misophonia gives me the same chthonic feeling as trypophobia (the thing with holes). Here is an absolutely awful video I will link to but not embed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiD1EXAgKyw

Egads.

Here is a relatively benign example of a trypophobic image, if it makes you uneasy do not even attempt the test in the video link above:

Anyway that feeling is what chomp chew gulp sounds are like too. Weird?

I don't think that youtube link was a good test.   Why?  Because it consisted of horrific images that would trigger most people.   Your image here is what I perceive as a pancake cooking.  Wonderful.  To show me a completely unnatural image of a human hand with completely unnatural bleeding holes in it is not a test of anything, other than my ability to supress disgust at unnatural things.
