Perfectly said.   I think in some ways, having realised the root of my disgust, I might just be free of it.   We will see Sunday, when family is here for Easter dinner.   I don't want to be disgusted by my family.   That would be super if I were somehow more resistant to feeling disgust at their jolly eating habits (chewing, laughing, talking good God EWWW!)

Well for me everyone knows to eat with their mouth closed. The only issue now is my partner has recently taken up the habit of talking and eating a the same time.  WHY? WHY?

Maybe you should continue to look away now and again, just so you can handle it a little better (?)

I will endeavour to not make my family uncomfortable by describing my revulsion.   I think I'm going to be okay now.   I think it helps if people just slow down in their chewing.   No rush.   Enjoy your meal.  No need to fill every space with talk.   Toward that end, I intend to put on a good movie.   Turn the volume up.   Probably something Biblical.

You as well.   Enjoy your Easter.     I have a fondness for the movie Noah, with Russell Crow, primarily because it has a segment in the middle which compares Genesis with evolution in a manner that is consistent with my view.   How long is a "God day" before He created the sun?    Also very much enjoy 'The Greatest Story Ever Told'  with  Max von Sydow.  Good stuff.   I live in a place where people drag a huge rolling cross down the road and we all stand and bear witness, and then later congregate to ingest copious amounts of food and beverage.

We are surrounded by a plethora of Southern Baptists.   People here want to represent in a visual manner.   It's okay with me.    My Bride and me want to be cremated, and our ashes interred upon our land.   My mother is afraid God won't find her if she is cremated, so we will deal with her in the traditional way.   My religious views are quite eclectic.   That would be a whole 'nother thread.   God gave me humour, because he wanted me to be funny.   I think it is my purpose to go forth and spread joy, and to leave people with a smile on their face.   Can't go wrong with that, right?

There is a time for everything and for everything a time. Yes, why not make a threat about creation vs. traditional burial and it's implications and fears within some religions. The Southern Baptists sure are animated as I observed once on a cruise ship where my partner seemed to want to join them, but I steered them away quick enough. LOL

You were probably wise to do so.   I dislike generalizing, but will say that more fundamental Christians seem to me to be supportive of the direct language of the Holy Bible, and less willing to explore the ramifications of those words.   I myself and my Bride don't believe in judgement;  I have done things for which there is no atonement, and therefore don't believe that judgement belongs to me.   I also believe that God [or insert deity of your choice] allows the creation of people and don't believe God would allow the creation of an "abomination" or  broken creature.   Therefore, all people are born perfect, even with all their flaws.   I am surrounded by people who, in their self-righteousness, believe it is their right to judge others, and persecute those who they believe to be unworthy.   I think that is the greatest sin of all -- to judge others, while not being honest with oneself.   

We have friends of all persuasions.   These are people who deeply matter to us.   They are all good people.   We all have our faults.   Life is short and fleeting, and can end without warning at any moment.   'Love thy neighbor as thyself.'   Good enough for us.
